The rest of the division has blown by us

It’s remarkably stunning how bad this has gone for us.

We thought we had the right defensive coordinator of fresh new face a guy who Jerry seemed to listen to a guy who had direction.

We heard all the names being bandied about before for agency started we don’t need to review those names.

Dallas, re worked a number of contracts and freed up cash - it was grand slam time. Finally, we were going to compete with the other franchises..

We had the worst defense in American football history last year absolutely horrific, unwatchable, laughable predictable trash.
Hand-picked by Will McClay and Stephen Jones two guys who couldn’t get a VCR clock to work.

So it had to be different this year, right it was gonna be different right … right?

My 87-year-old mother knew this team needed linebackers at the end of the season last year more than any other position.

How many linebackers do we have today?
How many new fresh linebackers do we have today?

We always have some BS excuse some nonsense. The cowboy Dr this the Cowboys missed out on that the Cowboys were late on this. It was almost they almost got him. He came to visit but they couldn’t work a deal out yada yada yada do you want to see what the rest of the division has done with a very little crying and very little publicity and very little complaining and very little finger pointing they just went out and got the job done.

Do you think we could beat the New York Giants on opening day ? - not a chance we are dead last with our new defensive coordinator and Will McClay making the pics. We are an embarrassment.

Same old garbage with this franchise - dumpster diving at five below - while the rest of the kids in the neighborhood go high end game hunting;

The Giants

• Isaiah Likely (TE): 3 years, $40 million
• Tremaine Edmunds (LB): 3 years, $36 million
• Greg Newsome II (CB): 1 year, $8 million
• Patrick Ricard (FB): 2 years
• Jordan Stout (P): 3 years, $12.3 million
• Re-signed Robinson (4 years, $78 million), OT Jermaine Eluemunor (3 years, $39 million), LB Micah McFadden, WR Gunner Olszewski, WR Isaiah Hodgins, TE Chris Manhertz, OLB Caleb Murphy, and CB Art Green.

Washington Commanders

• Odafe Oweh (EDGE): 4 years, $100 million
• Leo Chenal (LB): 3 years, $24.75 million
• Tim Settle (DT): 3 years, $24 million
• Amik Robertson (CB): 2 years, $16 million
• Re-signed / Extended: OT Laremy Tunsil (2-year, $60.2 million extension), P Tress Way (Extension), and OT Andrew Wylie (Extension).

Philadelphia Eagles

You must really hate the team. Why can't you just lie to yourself like everyone else? You "never" say anything nice about the Cowboys!

FYI: This is a FAN board. Why you come here with facts and analysis stuff?!?

If you keep making negative posts...I swear...I'm going to pretend not to read them and really hurt your feelings! Then you'll see!!!

If Harbaugh has a QB in Dart, the NYG will fly right past us. They have a bunch of good, young players, and now they have a legit head coach for the 1st time in a long time. The Eagles were already way ahead of us in talent, and we've done essentially nothing to close that gap. Wishful thinking doesn't improve a passrush, and neither does Rashan Gary. It's going to take a huge leap from a bunch of guys on our D to be competitive.

If Dak gets hurt or something similar happens and we only win 4 or 5 games, Cowboy fans will still be ruing the Quinnen Williams trade 10 years from now. IMO, the '27 draft looks to be better than 2018.

Praying big money in get agency almost never works.

CP is going to need a couple years to right this dingy. You can't paint a Rembrandt with crayons. Give him some time.

And remember, Dak is the quarter l quarterback, so the ceiling is in place no matter what.

I dont get the pessimistic point of view?

Eagles have lost many starters and have a disgruntled number 1 WR with a coach who is on its last legs.

The Giants yes have gotten better, but until it all comes together they are still the Giants.WR1 coming off a major injury, a defence that has never lived up to expectations, and a young Qb that really hasnt done a thing.

The Commanders keep signing players but this has been happening for years. And other then Daniels having a breakout rookie year, what has he proven. No RB, TE is on his last legs, they swap out on D every season.

Then you have the Cowboys. Probably the best Qb in division, best 2 WR combo in division, their Oline is not the best but probably second in division, they have solidified some positions of weakness on D, and still hold 2 1st round picks.

Ultimately, what people tend to forget is that we acquired Williams for the last quarter of the season last year. For all intensive purposes he was an acquisition as part of this off season as we will have a full season with him. When you add Gary to Williams, Clark and Osa, that is not too bad of a foundation for a DL to start with. Throw in rotation players like Eze, Williams, Thomas and others to come, its really not that bad.

People really need to relax. Yes we need to fill voids at LB and CB, but the off season just started. Our D will be better this upcoming season, it definitely cannot be worse than last season. Anything better and our offence stays the same.... we win 2 extra games easily. That puts us in contention for division.

What specifically do you find disconcerting about the free agent signings of other NFC East teams? Essentially, each team signed a couple of players ranked in the top 1/3 of players at their respective positions—just like the Cowboys did.

Are those linebackers better than Bobby Wagner?
You're hanging your hat on the possibility of 36 year old Bobby Wagner? Wash let him go and picked up Chenal for 3 years 25M, that's what they think of him

We gave up 3000 points last year. You don’t get my pessimistic view.? !

LOL. Really? The Eagles have added to their team? So far they replaced Goedert with Mundt....downgrade. Woolen is inconsistent....kind of like Treyvon Diggs was. Makes a few plays, gives up a fair amount. Kept a guy that they already had. Dallas already claimed reserve/futures deals back in January.

Meanwhile, the Eagles lost Dean. They lost Phillips, who was their only legit DE. They lost all their other DE's. They lost Blankenship. They have two OL that are on the verge of retiring....you know what they say when they are thinking about it: it means they probably should. Their primadonna WR hates his QB and the QB refused to run the offense how it was designed.

Yep, the Eagles have really improved.

Did you fall on your head?

The Eagles lost Phillips, Dean and Blankenship in one day. DE, LB and S. They only added a corner. They did NOT have the best of FA day one. Three major pieces lost at each level of the defense.

The Cowboys added Edge, Safety x2, DT, OLB, QB and have two 1st rd picks where Wash, Philly and NY only have one. They can still add LB and CB through FA and the draft.

I expected them to add 4 starters in free agency. If they wanted to realistically compete for a Super Bowl.

I don’t see them as building a roster that can realistically compete for a Super Bowl.

If your expectations are lower than trying to compete for a Super Bowl. That’s your choice.
I guess my thing is….i didn’t see anyone in free agency that could put us over the hump. I saw a bunch of guys other teams didn’t want. My stance has been what ever improvement we make is gonna have to come via trade and draft.

Maybe you can't get there in one bloody year. We don't even know if Parker is up for the job. Lots of things we don't know yet. It may take two seasons to cook this thing up right. New scheme, new players, new coaches, new (inexperienced) defensive coordinator.

LOL, I am as negative as the next guy but this is a wild take.

1. Yes, the Iggles are weaker
2. Yes, the Iggles are weaker, but WON their ring before the inevitable, so who cares if they aren't as strong?
3. FA hasn't started? What have I missed? All the legal tampering signings will go the way of the Crosby trade?
4. Jerry did NOT open the wallet as promised
5. The draft? No guarantee it fixes our many issues we still have

Where am I wrong?

Nothing to close the gap with Eagles? Not only can they NOT keep coordinators around but they lost THREE key starters on what was a really black monday for them. Phillips, Dean and Blankenship. They replaced none of them through trade or FA. They added a cornerback.

This is some serious poppycock you're throwin' down.
