The Rolando McClain we got last season was one who had rarely been seen in the league. He was physical and quick enough to make an impact on this defense.

It appears that year was truly an anomaly as this Rolando looks a lot like the player who was too slow and inconsistent to make an impact.

Dallas' defensive effort was atrocious last night (especially after losing Lee) and one of the changes that needs to be made is benching McClain until he can find himself again. Put Hitchens at MLB and Lee at WLB or Lee at MLB and Hitchens at WLB. (Of course, this plan is hampered right now by Lee's concussion and not knowing Hitchens' consider, but if one of them is healthy, I'd be tempted to start Gachkar at MLB over McClain right now.)

Agree, McClain is slow and very tentative, and when he does commit it always seems to be in the wrong gap. His head is not right with ball.

I thought based on CZ that we had one of the best 3 man LB cores in the league on paper coming into the season. Now it looks like everybody needs to be replaced.

the 2014 McClain and 2015 McClain are 2 completely different players. I don't think he's just below average either, he's been awful. Said this a couple of weeks ago and was told my expectations of him were too high. I don't think so. He's a complete liability out there. He's not making plays but he's also affecting the defense negatively. No awareness last night on a crossing pattern, he basically picked Jones. Also several times he simply ran into piles rather than running to an open gap.

Not a one week thing either. He was real bad against the NYG too. I understand that everyone hates Sean Lee because he's never healthy, but I also think that McClain's play has affected Lee too. Lee has not been as big a playmaker since McClain got back in there.

He probably tried really hard last year to get a nice contract and then just give up again, luckily we only gave him a 1 year contract .

I don't think Hitchens needs to be replaced. Hopefully Wilson can develop, but other than that we don't have much. Lee is likely done. McClain is trash. Not much depth.

Remember when people were drooling over the vaunted Lee-McClain-Hitchens trio? Good times.

So you are saying this is the wrong time to rub dirt in Risen's face that he was wrong on stud Anthony Hitchens? The amount of traction some have used on him with Hitchens has been comical.

Not entirely shocking given the way he finished last season. Plus, we do sort of resemble his old team these days.

McClain looks like he spent all summer watching the movie Half-Baked eating Funyuns.

to me it seems like he cant play with the extra weight. when he was with the raiders, he was bulky like he is now. After he came back from retirement he seemed pretty light. It gave him that extra speed but it also seemed to contribute to all of those minor injuries he had. he puts on the extra weight/muscle in the offseason to prevent that and boom! return of raider rolando. Just seems like now his body cant move as fast as his thoughts are.
