The ridiculously filthy 1st round of the 1983 draft

[Risen Star]

This really is incredible.

[zrinkill]

Do not see a bad player in that list

[gtb1943]

Dickerson Elway and Matthews are quite often in the conversation of best of all times at their positions as well

[Robbieac]

Rambo: “That’s nothing. That’s how every Jerry & Will Mcclay draft looks in my eyes.”

[timb2]

The year that got me hooked into making mock drafts.

That year had everything. The USFL had grabbed some of this class also. WR Anthony Carter, RB Kelvin Bryant, QB Bobby Herbert, etc.

[Hardline]

I watched Eric Dickersons entire college career at SMU sharing the backfield with another RB named Craig James.

He's my fave all time RB.

[Gambit]

This really is incredible.

Stupid Jerry passed on Marino

[DemonBlood]

The 30 for 30 ESPN doc on this draft was really good.

[gtb1943]

It has been called the greatest draft class in NFL history.

[tunahelper]

Stupid Jerry passed on Marino

LOL. You mean Jimmy because Jerry wasn't allowed to makes picks.

[timb2]

Stupid Jerry passed on Marino

You mean Gil Brandt

[Chocolate Lab]

He's my fave all time RB.

Same here... Assuming you mean Dickerson.

[Gambit]

You mean Gil Brandt

At least you got the satire

[Risen Star]

Same here... Assuming you mean Dickerson.

Well ain't that nice.

I'm more of a Dorsett or Emmitt guy. ~cracking knuckles~

I am a terrible fan... but I think many already knew that.

[Verdict]

Certain years are just interesting. I graduated in 1983 and it seemed like the high school graduating class of 1983 was generally superior in athletics and academics than the students several years to either side of that year.

It seemed like a wide spread phenomenon. No matter what school it was that seemed to be the case in my portion of the world. Some classes are loaded. Some are not.

I know the NFL draft class of 1983 did not graduate high school in 1983. I’m just using that as an example.

I attended a very small high school in Oklahoma with 32 in the graduating class. I think about 25 out of 32 graduated college with a 4 year degree, which in my neck of the woods is not the norm, I assure you.

my favorite one they did.
