What the fans in the stands need to do is start the Roy Williams Whif-O-Meter next season. Basically, this would be some kind if sign that has a running count of all the busted plays Roy's responsible for on Defense. So basically, count all of his miss-tackles, and busted coverages that lead to TDs. The word out of the Ranch is that Roy studies very lazily, practices poorly and is more interested in landing on ESPN's "jacked up" than actually play defense. Something like the Roy Williams Whif-O-Meter would expose his consistent poor play and perhaps will embaress him enough to finally make him practice his coverages and fundamental tackling skills.

I guess it was only a matter of time before we had another RW bashing thread.

One thing I don't get is how it's constantly written how Roy is concentrating mostly on trying to blow WRs and RBs up. When's the last time that happened? How many times did he lite up multiple guys in the same game? I don't see the same vicious hitting from him we saw his 1st 2 years either. IMO, he's declined in almost every aspect of his game.

He's just been a very disappointing player the last few seasons.

The last game that stands out in my mind was against the Colts.

He laid out Utect (sp?) and from there on out other Colt WRs like Wayne had some uncharacteristic catches.

I dont know if it was ever discussed publicly but he started wearing a black shoulder brace shortly after the Colts game.

Not making excuses for him but if a hard hitting safety has a busted should it could discourage him from going for the KO punch.

I think he's been that way all season. Not exactly timid, but not wide open like he used to be. Parcells said his 1st season that he thought safeties and TEs take the most punishment. Maybe Roy just isn't physically what he was 5 years ago.

He did hurt Anthony Henry twice this season

I think next season we will see the old Roy Williams.

Just because he struggled with it some this year I wouldn't bet on it being a year to year thing.

But if your an idiot you might bet on it.

Not that we had forums back then but you'd never here Bill Bates bashing, we knew he was slow and he hustled regardless, Roy has no excuse...;)

The word out of the Ranch is that Roy studies very lazily, practices poorly and is more interested in landing on ESPN's "jacked up" than actually play defense.

I've heard this said before...I actually hope it is true because at least that's something that can be fixed. Roy has a lot of pride, and he hears the talk and knows he's hurt us almost as often as he's helped us this past season.

I expect to see a slightly thinner, hungrier, more focused Roy next season...I think he's going to want to reestablish himself in a serious way.

He'll never be Ed Reid or Ronnie Lott in coverage, but I think he'll be vastly improved next year in the SS position...he'll do his part in the offseason, and hopefully the coaches will do their part.

That would be oh so classy. Something I would expect Eagles fans to do.

Yes Roys gets burnt. Yes Roy gives up big plays. What DB in the NFL doesn't?

You put any DB out there with our lack of pass rush and our lack of coverage skills of the flat and the middle, and of course Roy is gonna get toasted deep. Roy hasn't has a good FS next to him since Woody. Davis is crap and is never in the right spot. Watkins was a rookie and made all the rookie mistakes. I think with extensive film study and preparation, Watkins will be good going into next season as our starting FS, unless we move Henry to FS.

So yes Roy makes his fair share of mistakes, but he isn't alone on this defense. I am tired of him being the scapegoat. After Ellis went down, our front 7 was putrid. We couldn't put pressure on the QB and we couldn't stop the run. We were getting owned by no name FBs in the flats.

But I guess it is all Roy's fault.....
