for those of you interested in trading up, I hear alot of talk about James, which I dig. But both James & Minkah’s tags have begun to touch on many boards i’ve seen so my question is this. If 19 & 50 could get you to a pick where both were available would you rather see the secondary with

FS: Woods/Heath Or. FS: Fitzpatrick
SS: James SS: Frazier/Heath

Unfortunately this is probably unrealistic as I dont see Dallas trading up for James & using him in the box so they would end up forcing him to FS, which im sure he’d be fine at, but I think it would be similar to Landon Collins. He was ok as a FS but he is a game changer as a SS.

We have 0 depth at LB and our entire D more or less hinges on Sean Lee...I’d argue we don’t have a starting MLB currently on the roster

Those LB’s have 0 shot if Price and Collins are keeping them clean

We have 0 depth at DE. If Lawrence goes down the D is royally screwed.

Bottom line: our D is nowhere near being 1 S away from being ready to compete for a championship, no idea why everyone is so obsessed with trading for 1.
Keep adding as much young talent as possible

James is much better in coverage then Landon. Landon isn't that great at all in coverage so I disagree with that statement.

I think James could be a game changer at both safety spots

Derwin can play in the box, single high, he can rush off the edge, he can be your dimebacker, he can even play corner. He’s a gamewrecker wherever he lines up. I’ll take him over Minkah any day.

Woods graded out really well as a future FS for the Cowboys in his rookie season. Don't forget SS Ronnie Harrison as a possible 1st or 2nd round pick also. Another option is moving Awuzie to safety, and drafting another CB to play opposite Jones. Averett is also with Alabama, and the coaching staff is making a trip to Tuscaloosa this week.

I don't want to give up a 2nd. Your 1st and 2nd picks for an unknown could backfire big time.

That'd probably get you to #12 or #13.
Between the two, I'd take James because it is a much better value - but if Vita Vea made it down that far, I'd take him instead.

I've wanted an impact S for years in Dallas, and I hate not having one. That said, the guys we had last year actually weren't as bad as advertised. Jeff Heath, in particular. I'm all for an upgrade, but not necessarily with bringing in somebody just because they have name people recognize. If we're going to upgrade, make it a real upgrade. That's Tre Boston or a trade with SEA in my book, and I don't think the team has any interest in Boston.

If we're addressing it in the draft, if James falls, that's great. He'd be real value at a position of moderate need in the first. I'm not interested in trading up for him. Otherwise, replace Byron Jones' with a guy we like in rounds 2-4 wherever there's value, and be happy.

I agree he is more versatile than Minkah but I think Minkah is the better single high safety at this point in time.

I really like Xavier Woods, feel he really doesnt get the credit he deserves for his play last year. Harrison I was not overly impressed with, i dont know if im watching the wrong games but i hear alot of “he is better in the box than in coverage” but when I watched him I saw a guy that played better i coverage than in the box, also he tends not to wrap up when he tackles which I just cant stand.....I love awuzie as a corner man, also I’m afraid his body cant hack it as a safety. He was pretty banged up last year, I think its best to protect him a bit & leave him at corner.

Exactly, we need all of our picks.

Ronnie Harrison at 50. I'm not trading for a safety unless its ET...and even then I'm not sending Seattle anymore than a 4th rounder for him. The price is going down each week that passes.
