The top 2 are obviously out of reach and it seems Peppers is 3rd and unlikely to make it to 28 as well.

So after Adams, Hooker, Peppers its...

Obi
Budda Baker
Josh Jones
These 3 are probably, in varying degress, in play at 28 and unlikely to make it to 60.

Marcus Williams
Marcus Maye
Desmond King
These are the next best 3 imo and would have to be selected at 60 (if available at all)

After that its a pretty large group you could bunch together that we could target with our 3rd or 4th
Justin Evans
Xavier Woods
Eddie Jackson
Tedric Thompson
Rayshawn Jenkins
John Johnson
Delano Hill
Monte Nicholson
Jadar Johnson

For me:
1st round-
- I like Josh Jones but 28 is probably too rich for me
- No interest in Obi. Looks the part a lot better than he actually plays it
- I like Budda a good amount as a player but I think he's either a single high FS or a slot nickle back. We have both of those positions filled already. + his size for a 1st round S would have to be a concern. Would love him later in the draft, but just not at 28
2nd-
-This is the best chance at value for me. Wold be very happy with either King or Williams at 60. I think both are capable of doing enough of everything that we could find a spot for them in the secondary.
-Maye might be a little bit of a reach at 60..he's a tough call because he seems really solid all around but not sure he does 1 thing particularly great

After the 2nd it's pretty much a crapshoot of who will and won't be good out of that group.
-Xavier Woods seems like he's picking up some hype but I haven't really watched anything on him
-Eddie Jackson is interesting coming off of an injury
-I'm a fan of Rayshawn Jenkins' potential as a SS. Big and fast and plays with an attitude...not sure if he'd be ready to play right away or just a project.

So who do you like and where? Did I miss anyone?

I still think we move down to 33 with the Browns for their 108th pick. This draft is so deep in DBs, we're bound to still get a top notch player. Then, we'll have the first pick on Day 3, where teams will have had all night to look at who is still available. We can take advantage of that by getting more value than normal, or stay there & take an additional player who can help our defense. I don't like Baker. At 5-10, 195, he's just too small to be an NFL safety. I DO like Obi. You can't teach 6-4, 225, 4.4/ 44" vert/ etc. He's the safety of tomorrow. He can match up well with any TE in the league. We just have to coach him up. He's a humble kid who is willing to learn. I take him at 33, & either Tarrell Basham or Derek Rivers at 60. The CB class is 4-5 rounds deep, so we can get a boat load of them afterwards. If we do nothing but stock up on DBs & DEs, I'll be a happy camper. I'm so sick of watching Aaron Rogers pick us apart in the last seconds to once again take us out of the playoffs. If we want a SB win, we must have a SB defense. That's just football.

Have you watched Obi play? Even his highlights are pedestrian.

Colorado's Tedric Thompson is visiting with Cowboys. Kid is not super athletic but his instincts are unreal. He is a pure ball hawk and not a liability against the run. Colorado's secondary was just as good as Washington's across the board. I also like Nebraska's Nate Gerry. Gerry is athletic, great size for safety, very productive and should be rated higher because all he does is make plays in both passing and running game but off field issues will downgrade him to end of draft. Both prospects will be late day picks IMO, both underrated.

Yup Colorado secondary was almost just as good as Washingtons.. I like Tedric.. I also like Ahkello Witherspoon, those 3 had like 45 passes defended this year..That's insane. He's a big corner too

Good groups like Colorado and Washington do make it tougher to evaluate. Was one player better than the other that set up others for opportunities?

Should be interesting how they all go down and how their pro careers diverge in different spots.

I think Desmond King would be a good Safety. I like the way he plays. His measurable(s) were not that good (5-10, 4.60 forty) although his 10 and 3-cone were good (1.57, 6.67). He does get INTs.

Would love to snag Eddie Jackson with a 4th round pick but I feel like he'll be off the board by the 3rd round.

Cornerback turn Safety who can play over the top and grab interceptions in the secondary with the threat of taking it to the house afterwards.

Add in the fact that Jackson is a great special team player (punt returner)

My guess is that DB's will actually go *lower* in this draft than people think. This is supposedly a historic DB draft. They are talking about DB's that have 5th round grades that would be 2nd round grades in most drafts.

So that would mean that would mean that the other positions are effectively more scarce. You might have a higher draft grade on a DB vs. a WR, but that DB may be the 7th ranked DB and that WR could be the #1 ranked WR.

So, I can see the logic behind taking the WR over the higher rated DB because you can always get a good DB later on.

Thus, I don't think it's impossible that many of these DB's we don't think we can get would fall. OTOH, we may still want a DE anyway. Or teams can abandon that line of thinking and just grab whatever DB they can.

This is how I see it as well. Don't use 28 to address CB when you can get a quality one at 60, 92, or in the 4th.
