Did anyone see this coming? Anyone? Even the realists have to admit that they did not expect the Cowboys to be 1-5 after 6 games. How did this happen? I know Wade and Garrett suck, blah, blah, blah. But seriously, this just can't be happening. This is the same core of players that won the division title last year - convincingly. My how the mighty have fallen.

Look at the bright side. Next year we will have a healthy Romo throwing to Miles and and an emerged Dez in a new offense. :)

That's if we have a better coaching staff. Better players with the coaches we have no = failure again.

I think the detractors saw the potential for some slippage at the beginning of the season but i dont think anyone saw this coming. Most people probably thought by having Romo and some of the other talent we have, at worst maybe we'd be 3-3 at this point.

There most likely won't even be an NFL season next year. The talks are not going well from all I've read.

Anyway no I didn't see this major fail coming. I actually bought into the pre SB hype. Thought we'd have a lights out season and just roll.

I figured when they lost last week the season was done. Last night just confirmed that. They're not going anywhere this year. I think we might win a few more games but we'll be drafting high next year. And with Jerry in charge of that that could bite us in the rear too.

Well yeah. That's going with the assumption and hope that we'll have new coaches and an entirely new oline next season. :laugh2:

At this point I would welcome that.

I have not read this but my hunch is the owners will try to field scab teams as they did during the last strike. The Cowboys had some veterans cross the picket line (as it was) and play..I have read that the current players leadership has been advising all players to save their money for a long protracted work stoppage. I don't think the owners will go for that for very long and they'll do the scab team thing.

Oh and to answer your question, I did see this coming. I said after the 1st preseason game that this OL would cost us everything and that Romo would get killed at some point this season behind them.

Even though there's lots of controllable reasons why we suck, I do feel that this season was generally cursed. From the bizarre blown calls to Romo being hurt, we just can't get ahead this year.

I like your thinking. In fact, I don't think the players should wait for the owners to lock them out. They should strike immediatley!:)

You saw 1-5? Seriously?

Except it was Gronkowski's missed blocked ... I never thought losing Phillips would hurt as much as it has. Dude, helped the running game alot last year, and he probably would have been in the game last night instead of Gronk and blocked enough so Romo wouldn't have gotten wrecked.

And why did Gronk have to be in there? Because this OL couldn't slow down a high school teams blitz. This is still on the line and the coaching staff for thinking this line was acceptable.

I never could have dreamt this in my worst nightmare. After going 11-5 and finally winning a playoff game, I don't think anyone in America could honestly say they saw a less than 4 win season coming.

I was jokingly telling a couple of my friends who were watching the game with me that JJ sold his soul (or the Cowboys' "soul") to the devil for the opportunity to have the Super Bowl in Dallas along with a team that was SUPPOSEDLY good enough to play in it! Unfortunately, Satan's a lil more savvy than JJ thought so I guess he backed out on his part of the deal!

The question is this: Is Jerry now convinced that he needs help running the Dallas Cowboys, as in GM/head coach with power?

This is the one thing that you all do have going for you. A very nice receiving corps...

The 'Skins would definitely kill to have the young talent that you all have assembled on this team.

As much as I enjoy revelling in this moment, it does pain me to say the most that there will not be any significant changes with this team unless JJ hires a competent HC with a "Spine." Would he do that after all that he had to endure with Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcels, hard to say...

Think that just a few weeks ago my brain was filled with who-are-going-to-be-the-last-guys-to-make-the-53-man roster. Who to put on the practice squad. .... Seems so trivial now.

IMHO the perceived "motivational problems" on the team probably go back to the coaching staff too. Too many family ties on the coaching staff, and older hands that don't really need the money - just coaching for their pleasure. The coaching staff isn't fighting for its life - the offices at VR are probably a pretty relaxed place relative to other teams.

What we need more of is stuff like when the Raiders' coach Cable punched out one of his defensive coaches last year. I'm not sure that helped them though. I'm not sure what we need either.

Random thoughts from a troubled mind.

I'm sure a GM isn't in order, but a more assertive coach has to be on his to-do list. Just hearing Gruden last night gushing over our talent has me wondering what he could do with this squad...
