The Cowboys have had seasons with slow starts that have gone on to Super Bowl wins.

The Cowboys have had great starts that ending in losing seasons.

Obviously beating the Bucs would be exillaterating for all of us but it doesn't guarantee anything.
- It might just mean that the Cowboys pass defense is really good and then they fall apart when they face a run focused offense.

Previous Seasons

2007
I always remember the season that the Cowboys won the NFCE but then lost to the Giants in the playoffs and the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl.

1993
The Cowboys lost the first 2 games but won the Super Bowl that season.

So we don't suck?

2018 is the biggest reminder a 3-5 start 5-3 finish second round of the playoffs..that with garett, zeke got rushing crown beat Seattle in the playoffs..that quite the turn around when this lace said we were done..our last playoff appearance

This season is not about 2 games......:muttley:

Hey man get with the program. Don't you know it's going to get ugly? Just turn in your season ticket and don't bother watching the games.
Save yourself some time and just go play lawn darts or bingo instead.

The Bucs could beat us 50-0 Thursday and then if we met them again in the playoffs we could beat them 50-0.

It all depends on who's on that day and who's making plays. They can have Week 1, because I'd rather get em on down the road.

The good ol’ “comparing this team to some of our best team of all-time” homerism :laugh::laugh:
not be best turnaround ive witnessed 2018 3-5 doom and gloom to second round of the playoffs. Need anything else?

the facts are Jimmy couldn't win, neither could Aikman , great defense, or that entire great team without one missing player,. how can that be? i mean we lost 17 players last year most very important and many for most of the season yet MM was expected to have a wining season?

hypocrisy at its best...

With Daks injury he missed getting some game speed practice in preseason. I expect rust. And a slow start. We know brady will come out and put points on the board. Depends on our Defense and the bucs oline. It’s hard to throw when your on the ground. We need pressure. Let’s see if our D-Line had improved. Got some young blood out there that’s gonna have to get in sync. Hoping we can establish a run game and get some quick strike passing to get a rhythm.

I have said a million times, I would rather the Cowboys start slow and finish strong, go into the playoffs playing their best football, than see them start 4-0 and then stumble into the playoffs. Imagine the Cowboys beat the Bucs Thursday night. The talk will be all about the Super Bowl. Dallas will rocket to the top of all the power lists and become the team to beat. Then they will lose to some weak team and fall back down to earth again. We've seen it before.

It does not matter to me what the score is Thursday. I want to see the team improve week to week and by December they are playing with a sense of urgency. I want to see them steamrolling teams the last 4 weeks of the season and heading into the playoffs with a mountain of confidence. 3-0 in September means nothing. I want to see 4-0 in December.

"The season is not about 1 game"

To that I say thank goodness for the crappy NFCE where mediocrity rules!!!

Agree. IMO you cannot accurately judge an NFL team for at least 6 games…maybe more. The way teams use players in preseason games now, it’s a miracle if everyone isn’t rusty to start the season. We will be counting on a lot of defensive players that are going to need some time to gel. The potential for a decent defense is there. They just have to go out and prove it.

If Dallas beats TB then I will talk about how defeat the Chargers. But I know what you mean.

It is about one game when its the playoffs. that's the goal is to get there.

Good point about starters and preseason games.

The minimal reps by starters in the PS games makes the early season even more unpredictable than a couple of decades ago when starter played more reps in PS games.
