The Shtick is Worn Out

Can Jason Garrett recover his credibility as the guy who leads this team out of the wilderness? Is his shtick worn out?

Sadly, no, he can’t recover his credibility, and yes his shtick is tired.

Three Simple “Whys”:
1. Eight years. If this was his second or third year on the job, maybe it would be different.
2. He’s had multiple “rebuilding years” with skimpy results. The “rebuilds”- 2011-14, 2016, and now 2018. Are we signicantly better off than we were in 2015 after the 4-12 debacle?
3. “Garrett fatigue”. YES- His shtick has just worn too thin.

Serious questions:
1. What more can Garrett “learn on the job” before proving he’s an NFL coach capable of doing anything beyond mediocre?
2. How many chances does a credible NFL HC deserve before it’s time for a change?
3. Is JG capable of transforming this culture and this offense AND instill confidence in his players and coaches that he can turn this around?

I’m sorry to say, I think the credibility ship has sailed on the Garrett era. I don’t know how the players endure his routine any more. As usual, Jerry will be the last to admit his hand picked “Landry” has a huge credibility problem.

The short answer is... who in their right mind even remotely respects this warmed over turd....watching Zeke muff catchable passes, fumble, forget where is was on the field tells me the game and players have long left captn clappy long ago....it's a sorry state, stuck between Jerrahs king kong ego and his happy clappy sideline dummy.... oh what are the true blue fans to do. The general drop in fan interest in the NFL makes life tougher on Garrett.

What’s mind-boggling is people still think Garrett had credibility from the start and it was not just artificially drilled into people’s heads that they ended up believing it.

The guy accomplished nothing to demonstrate he was ready to be given such high positions coaching.

The guy was a QB coach for about two years, whose ‘projects’ including Frerotte and Harrington, the former not needing any coaching considering him being in the league longer than Garrett. Did he improve them? No..

Even his career here is couched in myth. He spent one year under Norv Turner and from this it’s claimed he’s s prodigy of him. Dude spent more of his time in Dallas during its dysfunctional years and the only reason he ended up on the Cowboys is becayse his papa, Jim brought him here like he brought the other two sons.

Guy had one game where he just tossed some up for grab balls to Harper and Irvin that they came down with and suddenly he’s some sort of legend here..

I'd like to see this entire coaching staff replaced. Just start over with a new ball of clay and get a new philosophy instilled from the get go. The HC must be experienced and a innovative minded soul.

but the process is slow and you must be patient.

It’s difficult to say. Our emotions are flying now out of disappointment but if we’ve made a mistake in our QB then we will have to start over again.

I really thought we were in a better place in 2014 then that Trio was never to take the field together again .

Now with the Dynamic Duo we thought we had after 2016 fizzles out .. back to the drawing board again I suppose .

But honestly I thought we were or are in a better place overall with Garrett despite not having more success. And I still believe if we could insert a prolific passing QB we’d be contenders again.

As usual though pending the immediate success fans become distraught with the results in front of them. We’re as fickle as the last game.

Ultimately our dysfunctional situation with Jerry is unlike any other franchise. Jerry is influenced by the public wave or sentiment. As frustrated as we all are I’m sticking with what I’ve always maintained that barring a complete collapse we won’t see a HC change while Jerry will more likely use others as scapegoat. Linehan comes to mind.

The bigger question moving forward is will we look for another QB. If not no one is safe.Hes already cost A QB coach , an Pro Bowl reciever and HOF TE to retire early. He could take everyone down with him including Garrett.

It’s funny when we look back to 2016 many bought into the hype how lucky we were finding Dak in the 4th round and with Zeke we had our new cornerstones for the next era.

Some of us warned to tap the brakes. Now that’s its beginning to crumble down we all are looking for excuses or blame but it always comes down to evaluation of talent.

Last year had many of the warning signs once Zeke went out. We saw what we were with Dak who’s not always going to have that all star cast surrounding him.

But we forged thru even releasing those we thought were hindering his production. At some point we’re going to run out of excuses. As much as I’ve been supportive of Garrett being Jethro puppet I’m just about to the point of if we’re staying with Dak for him to bow out because like I said above he’s going to take everyone down with him simply to attempt saving face with Jethro and Sons decision to boot Romo.
