DRAFT 2014

Okay, the sky is not falling after releasing DWare. I'm going to miss him, but got to fooling ourselves to not think that injuries wasn't catching up with him. I started seeing single block on DWare and he still couldn't get to QB. The time was right to release him and go younger on the DLine with a lot energy and hungry to win. So, I'm thinking we only have 2 DL or maybe not on the roster. T. Crawford and B. Bass. Yes, I know they were injured all year., but I'm thinking or hoping after DWare release and Hatcher sign with the Deadskins that they got on the phone and said to each other "it's time to step up and carry the DLine." If we don't sign H. Melton or any other DL or DE, this is what think we need to do. I think T. Crawford is our 3T and B. Bass is our 1T with G. Selvie our DE and draft a DE/FA. If we sign H. Melton he is our 3R and B. Bass is our 1T. T. Crawford will be our DE. Now the draft. I want fast, high motor and passion players. It’s important to get four possible future starters. I have made a list of top DE and DT.

My picks for DT
Aaron Donald or
Tim Jernigan or
Ra'Shede Hageman or
Dominique Easley or
Kelcy Quarles
2 of these players would be nice.

My picks for DE
Kory Ealy or
Scott Crichton or
Demarcus Lawerence or
Aaron Lynch
2 of these players

Our Possible DLINE
G. SELVIE T. CRAWFORD B. BASS FA
G. SELVIE H. MELTON B. BASS T. CRAWFORD

Our Future DLINE
SCOTT CRICHTON AARON DONALD DOMINIQUE EASLEY AARON LYNCH
KORY EALY TIM JERNIGAN KELCY QUARLES DEMARCUS LAWRENCE

Top DE
1. Stephon Tuitt
2. Kony Ealy
3. Scott Crichton
4. Trent Murphy
5. Will Clarke
6. Demarcus Lawrence
7. Aaron Lynch
I left J. Clowney off because know we want get him and I left A. Barr also because it a very small chance he will fall to 16.

Top DT
1. Aaron Donald
2. Tim Jernigan
3. Louis Nix
4. Ra'Shede Hageman
5. Will Sutton
6. Dominique Easley
7. Kelcy Quarles
8. Caraun Reed
9. Justin Ellis

If we could get Donald and Crichton in the first and second and then maybe Reed in a later round, I'd be extremely happy.

It might not be falling but I doubt anyone has a warm fuzzy about possibly going into next season with a weaker DL than we did last year that was record breaking. In a bad way......

Let's hope Donald is still there when we pick - I haven't wanted anyone this bad since I had my 9 th grade girlfriend under the bleachers at the freshman prom!

A lot of things can happened in the next 5 months. Wether or not anyone has warm fuzzies in March doesn't really matter.

I think if we make the right decision in FA with H. Melton and we get the right Defensive players in the draft starting with A. Donald we can have a very good defense next year. We just need to pick the right players in the draft. I remember when a very young defensive Dallas team and we started building a dynasty. We had young, fast and passionate players on that defense. I still see Russell Maryland ripping the helmet off of Steve Young head. Everybody on that defense had a high motor and fast and passionate. This is what we need now and we can have it with the right players. I want to say, I like H. Melton, but I don't want to overspend for me and he has to understand he is coming back from ACL injury. I think we have the right D. Coordinator to make this happen.

I think we all know whats going to happen, 8-8 or worse, no D, 34 year old qb coming off 2 back surgeries yea looks good next year

I'll let Rod prove but think he's more adaptive to talent than Kiff was in 2013 bc he is more of a player's coach. Agree on not overspending on Melton and Donald being the 1st choice for the DL (Ford/Ealy could be a could consolation prize if a slight trade down presents itself).

I am starting to think that Donald might fall to us. Chicago is moving to a variation 3/4,4/3. If you look
at the skill set between Donald and Jerrigan, Jerrigan gives a little more flexibility. I know this has been
posted. It's just that I'm feeling more confidant now about this.

I'm starting to think we might go either way. It would be nice to have a choice.

Nice OP, and very realistic and reasoning.
I think Easely has a knee injury or some injury that may drop him in the draft. And could be a PUP candidate. I'll pass on those, unless he drops really far.

But with Ealy over Donald, if we sign Melton, this I could see as our DL next year.

Selvie, Crawford, Melton, Ealy.
rotate in Bass, Hayden McClain, Mincey, and another drafted player, like Will Sutton in the 2nd.
However I would rather have Shazier at LB if he would drop to us [which I doubt], then get a DT in the 3rd.

Now those names won't make a QB shake in this cleats, but after 8 games, it may make them think about it more. But can't be worse than last year.
But the truth is, we don't know either, even though most think they know. LOL

Right now all I know is this defense has a lot of work ahead of them one big help would be if somehow we can keep players on the field and off the injury list. When many of your top line defensive players are sitting on the bench it is hard to expect much out of their replacements. Now with the release of Ware and Hatcher Dallas has more holes to fill. Not saying it was a bad move, in my view it was a move that had to take place given the contracts they were dealing with.
Marinelli got his work cut out for him just to get this unit to the middle of the pack defensively. I'm certainly not expecting a top 5 defense this year.

I don't think anybody here was/is sensing that the sky if falling. Far from it: I am very proud of this here forim because ever body took Ware's departure in stride and with the notion that we hopes he does well somewhere else and that this is part of the process in the cap era and to get younger and healthier.

This is a rebuilding year for the D. Make no mistake about it.
We is not going to the Super Bowl, so you with the high expectorations don't book any hotel rooms or go online trying to buy SB tickets. It simply is not gonna happen. But, just in case, I an sending Lost Vegas some of mein monies that the Cowboys will oppose the Broncos in the Super Bowl. Iffin i am wrong and incorrect, I lose $100 bucks. If the universe turn upside down and we actually go to the SB I am a rich man and won't half to converse with you peeps no more. But that is a pipe dream, huh?

(oh, I am just kidding. I would hire all of you to be mein personal assistants to fetch me fine beer and woman and butane for the propane tanks. heh.)
