'82 jam at the Dome-air conditioned
Point Blank opened, one hit wonder
Joan Jett- horrible, sucked, went outside after a couple songs and got reloaded
Sammy Hagar- Standing Hampton tour, awesome show
Santana- found out 1 1/2 hours of bongo drums ain't for me
Journey- always nice when a band can actually sound like the studio version
how was Dallas besides hot as hell?
It was blistering hot, people were passing out from the heat and they were having to hose off the crowds on the field. Throughout the day they kept making announcements to have people take a couple steps back to prevent crowding or clear a space for for emergency workers to get to people that passed out. We snuck in a couple pints of 151 with the intent of mixing it with sodas, but after it took a hour to get a soda, we just went to taking shots from the bottles, we got lit pretty early....lol
Point Blank was alright, there were a few songs of theirs I liked.
Joan Jett was kinda meh, don't remember too much from her set, but it was after the effects of the 151 shots.......lol
Hagar was great,
Standing Hampton was a great album. Sammy got crazy, he had just gotten back a guitar that had been stolen and he was ranting about it, he would never play that guitar again. He tried squirting lighter fluid to set it on fire on stage, but it wouldn't catch and then left the stage and disappeared for a few minutes. He came back with a gas can, the crowd went nuts and he's waving the gas can around and several roadies ran out and grabbed him and wrestled the gas can away from him. Sammy got pissed and smashed the guitar to pieces and tossed it in the crowd. It was awesome!
During the break a huge trash fight erupted throughout the crowd. It started with a few cups and other trash getting thrown from the upper decks, but then the lower decks(where we were) were trying to throw trash back, but then the people on the field got involved too. In a matter of minutes, everyone there is throwing assorted trash and anything they could get their hands on, it got pretty insane. Everybody was taking cover and firing back, you had to keep your head on a swivel, chuck and duck, stuff was flying from all different directions. We were laying in front of our seats using them for cover from the upper decks and using the seat backs in front of us as cover from people below us or on the field.
I love Santana and thankfully he chilled everyone out. They put on a great set.
Journey was great, excellent show and the fireworks show during "Wheel In The Sky"
