The sound of apathy is deafening

Whew! For a second I thought the players sucked, not the coaching. Good thing we have players like Dak and Dez to cover up the coaching flaws.
Funny how quick Dallas fans are to turn on the talent.

That is easier than admit you blindly support an organization that does not care about you beyond what you mean to their bank account.

If I could like 100 times I would!

Started watching in 75. Saw basically 2 decades of “expecting excellence.” Would flip a TV tray over a playoff loss. Right now it’s ok to some fans to ALMOST get to the playoffs with 9 wins. “Oh so close!” And the main cog is Jerry selling us the same BS. Not sure how a business man could watch the early 90s up close and lose touch with how it works. Ego!!

Send a staff member the request and see if they'll add 99 more likes to that. You never know.

Yeah you'd think even if you were that insane to destroy a dynasty and all you would eventually come around at some point during 20 years of failure. Not this lunatic. He's convinced more now than ever that what this team needs is more him.

Congrats Jerry. You've beaten the life out of us.
Because I remember the glory of the 70s and the 90s, and because I am human, I still get excited when the boys show a glimmer.

More every year my rational side calms me right back down again. Because...what's the point? The only way we can win is DESPITE Jerry, and that can't be overcome.

That’s part of the reason I wanted to start losing once the eagles and Atlanta loses were dealt. Would rather get one of the nails in the coffin out of the way now while I expect it.

If you ever wonder why guys my age (47) are seriously passionate is because I've lived through 5 Super Bowl titles. You young guys have no clue what it feels like, pure euphoria. Guys my age or close or older, we are to the death passionate about our team because we've seen and felt championships. I'll fight till death about my own theories because I've seen a championship team, and I know what great coaching is, I know what great receiving is, I know what great QB play is, and I know what a dominant defense looks like from experience.

I honestly don't even think he cares, deep down, about what this team needs beyond him and his family.

Watch the "A Football Life" with him and his family.

This team is basically like a family heirloom now.

He somehow found his way into the Boy's Club that was in place when he bought the team.

For all he said he learned from Al Davis, he is doing the exact opposite.

He is organizing a kingdom built to just make money.

If it gives the fans the side effect of a championship, gravy.

You guys act like middle school girls that just got dumped.

Our LT, MLB And RB—-the top 3 players on the team spent much of the season unavailabie. We developed several good young secondary players. Jaylon’s needle is rising. Several things to look to next year.

I think Dez may finally be gone. Written probably needs to retire.

All of this points to more $ to spend in FA and maybe shore up the OL that we depend on so heavily.

I’m not a JG fan- but we won 13 games last year. If JJ makes a few bold moves in terms of personnel— we’ll be better than that team next season.

My only huge concern is finding a #1 WR.....then again, great offenses/teams/QBs can work with a consistent crew of WRs with a strong running game.

You guys act like middle school girls that just got dumped.

No, we act like a lover who goes back every single year with flowers and gets rejected.

We are the Charlie Brown of NFL fans.

Keep hoping for something to change and yet, nothing does.

I think Garrett is our Lucy and Jones is the WAH WAH WAH voice.

I expected a chance in every game with Romo at the helm, because he hid Garrett's deficiencies and would make the proper adjustments. Now you gave a young QB like Dak mediocre to below average coaching and you saw the result this season. We are going nowhere with this Dak/Garrett combo; either get an excellent coach or keep Garrett and find a QB to hide Garrett's ineptitude.

I thought we turned the corner with Jerry when he hired Parcells. Didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped with him being near the end of his career and not having his usual assistants available. But we had much better drafts and he got us out of the basement to the playoffs and primed to make a run.

But once he left and Jerry made the not 'having to walk on eggshells anymore' comment, hired Garrett as OC before we had a HC and then hiring a proven HC failure like Wade, I knew we were back to business as usual. Turns out the hiring of BP wasn't Jerry coming to his senses but more about Jerry being desperate for a quick fix to get the team back to respectability so he could gain public support for the new stadium.

Once Wade hit bottom and Jerry just promoted HC-in-waiting Garrett, our only chance was to get lucky. But Garrett was never going to be the answer and even had OC duties removed from him.

We're just in no-man's land. Never good enough to seriously contend, not bad enough to trigger significant change. And bottom-line is Jerry doesn't care as long as he's making money and comfortable.
Agree about most of this. The Parcells hire gave us some hope. Jerry got his stadium though.

The part I disagree about is Jerry not caring because he has money. This guy was born rich. Money hasn’t been an issue for so long for him. Money at this point for Jerry is only a way to measure business success. The guy wants to win..but only if he gets the credit for winning. Hiring a football guy wouldn’t give Jerry any personal satisfaction even if we win a SB.

Unfortunately folks Jerry will never give up daily control as long as he can physically do it. This is his team and this is the last measurement of success for Jerry. He will do it his way or no way. Jimmy hurt him bad and he is still trying to prove the 3 SBs were his doing and not Jimmys.

I just can't take another year of seeing Garrett clapping at the team after kicking a field goal being down two scores... I really don't think I can.

Over the past few years I would have gotten much more angry with a loss like the Seattle one. But after the poor coaching over the years it's something that I just expect. When a fan base stops getting angry because they are used to losing, the owner should listen twice as hard. Basically we are told to trust Jerry, well Jerry, you have beaten the fan base down to a point of just not caring enough to get upset.

Congrats Jerry. You've beaten the life out of us. I've been a huge fan for the past 40 years and it's the first time I'm just past getting angry. We knew that this team would let us down like all of the ones under JG. If you don't do something to change things the fan base will become less and less passionate. Just listen to how quite this forumn is when it should be full of passionate people upset. Instead they expect the product that you have been putting out on the field so it wasn't a surprise.

Too bad Jerry will never read your mesaage.

Yep.

I've lost almost all interest in this point. It's not the protests. It's not the officiating. It's not the league office (though I do have a lot of gripes with them).

It's that the interest and enjoyment have been beaten out of me by the apathy of the organization. If they don't care, why should we?

It's been 20+ years. A kid now at the age of 25-28 wouldn't even recall the last time the Cowboys had any type of success.
I'm 29. I have vague memories of cheering with my buddy after SBXXX.

The Cowboys have been a joke most of my life. No one my age views them as a well-run organization.

Totally agree. It's always been about his ego. He wants to be in control and the face of the franchise and the one who gets the credit. Even with Stephen being more involved, Jerry is still the ultimate decision-maker.

We could've easily hired a GM and quality HC years ago, but like you said, Jerry gets no satisfaction with winning with someone else in control and getting the credit. For the past 20+ years it's been Jerry playing fantasy football with the Cowboys and hiring coaches he can control who have no real authority, while hoping we can still win. The man has single-handedly ruined the organization simply because of his ego.

The question is will Stephen be any different? I haven't seen any evidence of it. Just fan hope.

Only chance is if he's willing to hire a quality HC. With Jerry that won't happen simply because of the Jimmy situation. We're winning SB's and probably could've won several more, but Jerry wasn't satisfied with that since Jimmy was getting the credit.

With Stephen I don't know if he'll have the same ego and desire to be in total control like Jerry. To only want to win while sabotaging you're chance to win by hiring inferior HC's and then undermining them along the way.

So in other words I think Stephen will be the GM which is problematic enough, but I think theres a chance he would actually try to hire real HC's.

I will be like a sick junkie by April. But I don't know if I am getting older or just not caring as much, but what once would have been a level ten, will be like a six.

By this time I normally have a pretty good bead on the draft class and who I want the team to target.

Right now and especially through this season, I have not felt the desire to waste the time.

So far I've only looked at player who have been suspended or gotten injured late in the year. Give me a good idea who we'll take in the 2nd.

That's a good point. While he probably will act as his own GM he might show more respect to the coaching staff.
