..SN's War Room Scouts evaluate draft prospect Ronald Johnson of USC:
NFL position: WR/PR
Russ Lande sizes up the draft prospects of USC wide receiver Ronald Johnson. Height: 5-11 1/8
Weight: 186
40-yard dash: 4.46
Current projection: Third-round pick.
Strengths: Is quick and athletic. Is a smooth and fluid athlete. Runs sharp and precise routes, getting in and out of cuts quickly to separate from man-to-man coverage. Shows good hands, consistently making tough catches seem routine. Makes catching high passes look easy. Is surprisingly good at running after the catch, showing the "wiggle" to make would-be tacklers miss and the strength to run through arm tackles. Can stiff-arm defensive backs to the ground. Has extra value on special teams as a punt returner, averaging 14 yards per return in 2010, and on the kickoff/punt coverage units. This could give him a big step up early in his career.
Weaknesses: Plays bigger and stronger than measurable height/weight would suggest. Looks thin, raising concerns about his durability. Shows good, but not elite, speed to stretch the field. Must improve ability to escape jams; lack of bulk could be a problem.
