After years of the team being Mr. Jones #1 priority. I will never say it isn't still important - just not top priority anymore. The stadium has leaped the team of importance. The ultimate dream has become reality.
The stadium allows him to be in charge of more things than ever. Football, boxing, concerts, basketball, etc... being the GM of the Cowboys just isn't that important anymore. You think the draft has been clueless up to this point...you haven't seen nothing yet.

Mr. Jones not Jerry is now the new GM.

Come on man. Of course Jerry wants to promote the stadium but he has people that report to him regarding this stuff.

The stadium is for the fans, for the hype, for the team, for the city, and of course for money.

Ridiculous premise. Jerry wants to try and win with a weak puppet head coach, he learned nothing fom Gailey, Campo, or Switzer. That is what is happening now.

This week the blame has went from Jerry to Wade to Garrett to the media to every player in uniform to the refs to former coaches to former players and now to the stadium. At least blaming the stadium is original. I`m all for tearing it down before another game goes down the toilet.

Well if we keep losing week in and week out, I wonder how important a half-empty stadium is going to be???

Holy smoke - the things people come up with.

Aside from the fact that the continued popularity of the Cowboys is what consistently puts butts in the stands, the popularity of the Cowboys is also what brings in a constant stream of tourists to take tours of the stadium and spend money in the gift shop, cause fans to buy merchandise all over the country and online, gets attention from the media, thus further promoting the financial interests of the team, and causes a plethora of companies and marketers to want to be associated with the team and be willing to pay handsomely for the priviledge .........

The Cowboys empire is the biggest source of revenue for Jerry, not concerts and other event. Those things are the supplements.

I think we understand that. But you have to admit, his ego went nuts in the design and building of the stadium.

And that explosion of ego has led to distractions like the public practices, and the amount of time/effort that goes into marketing this palace all the time, and most of all the weight of expectations he put on the team by signing the superbowl deal.

I think we'll look back in a few years and realize Jones outkicked his coverage on this shrine to his enormous ego.

Admittedly it is an extravagant structure, but let me ask you a question .......... what would you have had Jerry do?

Should he have built an average stadium that would have provided the same experience as going to a game in essentially any other stadium in the country? Would our preference have been to cut corners, go generic, and have just another stadium?

In the early 1970's when Texas Stadium was built it was a one of a kind sports arena, so why wouldn't we expect to have the same today?

Besides, the Cowboy's franchise is a marketers paradise, and was long before Jerry got involved. He has just taken it and run with it, and he intends to take full advantage of the team's capacity for making money. Doing things on a grand scale is part of that.
