From the Junction Boys to the Star. I understand that players can rent someone to practice for them.
Seriously, I find this all this to be more than just a little disturbing. What did the Prison warden in Law Abiding Citizen say? Something to the effect that he wouldnt want to be one of the "Haves" under those kind of circumstances.
I dont want anybody to take this the wrong way and it's absolutely not directed at anyone in particular, so please just think about my question a little before reacting....
Does anybody else sense a transformation in Cowboy fans where we seem to be substituting victory on the field with perceived victories when it comes to the financial success, marketing innovations, and enhancing entertainment value?
Will this facility increase the probability of getting back to the Super Bowl? Or is it just another tourist attraction, Jerry World's Epcot Center?
Training camps used to be remote, harsh, and challenging. It was beleived that practicing together under chalenging conditions created unity, endurance, and mental toughness. It brought teams closer together.
Im not suggesting the opposite extreme of the Junction Boys, Im just saying that you don't reward two decades of mediocrity with a pampered playground. The old Cowboys were given state of theI art treatment at times but they knew how to defend their house and erase any perception that they were spoiled and soft.
Recently, a successful Cowboy team with possible homefield advantage for a. Super Bowl completely imploded and their fans had to suffer the embarresment of a historic rival taking their city over.
One of the main contributors of these sad circumstances was a GM with the higher priority of marketing his new stadium.
This season will indicate whether these facilities are a distraction or a prerequisite to greatness. But everyone should keep their eye on the ball.
