I definitely remember tons of criticism being leveled against Landry, Staubach and other Cowboys greats back in those days. And Troy Aikman took a lot of heat too back in the 90s too.To be fair there was criticism even in our glory eras as well as gratitude. It should always go both ways.
Fans are more than willing to celebrate their teams success when applicable .
Only in amateur sports should we be more celebratory without more success as in many cases they are our children, neighbors, etc participating and our Alma maters.
Professional sports falls in a sharply different contrast of situation for fans expectations.
Fans are always scrutinizing their favorite teams. Nothing new there.
