Why does that prospect suddenly seem very likely this season? An undrafted FA and a 7th round pick?

My perspective on the season has changed a great deal over the last couple of weeks.

How about you?

At this point what does it matter what round Crayton was drafted? Eventually it did not matter that Drew Pearson went undrafted. No, Crayton is not Pearson, but he has proven to be better than his draft status.

There should be concern if Crayton and Hurd are starting. Hurd is unproven and although Crayton has proven he can do some good things, he is not as good as either Glenn or Owens.

I really dont judge players on where they are drafted but I use my eyes to tell me how good they are and my eyes tell me we will be fine.

Same goes for that undrafted QB we have too.

Since TO is still healthy, I assume he'll be starting. I've got no problem with Crayton & Hurd as our 3 starters. We've also still got Witten & Fasano along with Julius Jones & MBIII. If our OL plays like we hope it will & Romo is the player we believe he can be, we'll blow the Giants out. Don't know any reason why we can't put up at least 30+ points on them.

Also keep in mind they don't know much about our offense and even less about our defense. The Cowboys will be all right even with these 3 injuries. Stop worrying.

I never really thought about it but boy, if we ran out that lineup it sure makes the Philly receivers look good about now.

this is how I see it...

no knock on parcells but if he were here I would be worried...

reason...

because he relied more upon man to man matchups thinking his guy was better than the other guy...

now both Phillips and Garrett run an adaptive system... meaning... that they adjust to those players who they have and play to their stengths...which is great if you don't have any in game injuries (giving the coaches time to scheme around their players)

now this is not to say that you don't need good to great football players because you do...but you shouldn't need as many great players and can get by with more good players as long as you can play to what they do well

Also this is just the right medicine for this team to have them give just a little extra effort each and every play and each and everygame...

I am not worried about it at all... though I will start to worry if Austin or stayback(mispelled for fun) has to play...

OKAY
Witten is playing,Romo is playing,Owens is playing, Julius/Barber is playing, Crayton is Good, Hurd showed Promise and lets face it he's a third reciever so all he has to do is catch like 5 balls keep the defense honest. Sure losing Glenn is losin a weapon but it's not like we don't have adequate subs.
Not tryin to dis ya man, I know opening day is coming, injury reports have the appearance of getting larger by the day. And just the anticipation of the unknown.

But seriously, I still have confidence that this team is going to take a Major step this year. Super Bowl would be nice but on the practical side of things, you know that the step must be made to the first tier before you can take it over. T.O and Glenn are not spring chickens. T.O. is a freaK specimen so like his Mentor (or at least shoulda been) Rice I expect him to be scorching Db's for a long time to come. Glenn has always been fragile, Good but fragile.

Young guys have to get on the field sooner or later better now when we are stacked and it's not despration time. I like the way John Madden put it. If you wait until you need a player to replace a player it's already too late.

mine hasnt. I dont care what round crayton was drafted in...he can play #2. (i believe tom brady was a late pick, so was terrell davis) so once you establish you can play draft order doesnt matter. Plus it gives us time to develop youth. I think the offense will be fine.

Yeah, I'm not pushing the panic button, but this is kind of what I've been thinking: That we might be one year and decent draft away. With two first rounders next year, we can do a lot, especially if we trade down with one of them and pick up extra picks. But these injuries are just tough. We've seen other teams get too many of their best players hurt, and there's just not much you can do.

That might happen to us this year... But I think if we're thinking about being a truly, truly top team, we might have been a year away anyway.

And before anyone says I'm giving up on the season, I'm not. Other teams have unknown guys step up all the time, and I'm more confident in this coaching staff to have that happen, for some reason. But I don't see how we make a really deep run with so many players injured.

More testimony about suspect drafting over the years. When your starting QB is a FA, and your starting WRs are a FA sigining (TO) and a guy we got for a 7th, (Glenn), makes you wonder what in the heck we were doing on draft day.

While I think we have done better as of late, we certainly have sucked at it in the past.

So you've gone from extremely pessimistic to fatalistic?

New Orleans had the best passing attack in the NFL last year and there were games were their top two targets were Colston and Copper. A late round rookie and an UDFA. New England won Super Bowls with gawd knows what at WR. Neither had a TE of Witten's caliber either.

It all comes down to QB and OL play. On almost every passing play in the NFL at least one receiver is open enough to get a completion, be it an UDFA scrub or an all pro. It all comes down to the QB having enough time and finding that guy.

TO was drafted low for his talent as well.

What receivers did TO play with in Philly?

We are all right!

:laugh1:

T.O was a third round pick from Tennesse Chattonooga.

WR's in drafted in the third round from a small program aren't drafted because they dont have adequate talent. They are drafted in the third round because they are either raw or haven't proven their ability against top tier talent.

Thanks Mr. Helper:

All teams needed to do was call you prior to Owens being drafted and they could have secured a HOF?
