I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who feels this way...

After last season, when a team with so much talent and all of the great stats in the world couldn't make it out of the first round of the playoffs, I am officially in "prove it" mode.

I don't care if the Cowboys go 16-1.

I don't care if Dak wins the MVP.

I don't care if Parsons gets 26 sacks.

I don't care if Dallas is the #1 seed in the NFL.

All I care about at this point is what they do after the regular season. Basically, we can be in the middle of the season and the Cowboys could be demolishing good teams left and right, and I won't believe that this year things will be really different. The reason is that they've given me, since 1996, no reason to believe that. I do hope they prove it to me.

This doesn't mean I won't root for them. This doesn't mean I won't be happy with a win. It means that at no point during even the best looking season, will I think "these guys are different -- this is our year!" A couple of wins in the playoffs would turn me around. Until then, I just don't believe that they are anything other than a good regular season team that loses in the playoffs.

I totally get it and hate to say but I feel very much on the same page. The lack of any type of offseason success has basically eroded the joy of the journey of the regular season and magnified the disappointment of the post season losses.

I still am excited for the season but, like you stated, even if they go on a big winning streak I am always thinking how it doesn't matter other than getting them into the playoffs....its kinda a crappy way to watch the season but its what this team has pushed us to time and time again.

Still counting down to Sunday though

Seems to be a little more fun now that my fandom reached the pure entertainment stage quite a few years back with this team.

Add in all the characters/personalities here and I am thoroughly entertained on a daily basis.

Some guys could even get paid for their fantasy stand up comedy opinions shared here.

Relevance (or in other words entertainment)not championships.

Embrace it, lol

It's sad when my grown up daughters ask me why I am still a fan of this team. They've never seen them win anything. It's actually comedy watching my oldest daughter DESTROY fans that like to point to our SB trophy case.

An approach any intelligent fan would take towards this team after their post season flame outs the last 25 years.

This board is one of the reasons I still care about this team.
It's nice to be able to commiserate with other loyal fans over whats happened to our beloved team.

I'd say about 70% of cowboys fans are in this category, In some fashion. Lot of them are probably long time fans. Many of whom probably go back to the 1970s.
How many NEW cowboys fans since the early 2000s?
Probably relatively few.

9-8 and two playoff wins is better than 13-4/one seed, that they blow for the third time.

------I understand, but 16-1 would be pretty sweet.

Until our opponents fans roll into AT&T for the playoffs, and make just as much noise.
