The strength of this draft is reportedly the interior defensive line. It would be a shame to get out of this draft if we do not snag at least one of these purported interior defensive stars out of this draft somewhere in the top 3 rounds.

I hope that we don't reach for need and take a lesser talented defensive end, in an allegedly weak class over a much better interior player. Drafting a ****** end wastes a pick and leaves with the same hole you tried to fill with the pick. Make all of these picks count!!!!!

Deep draft, supposedly, for DT.
But my most accounts, two of the top four players in the draft are DEs.
3 of the top 17
11 of the top 100 too.

More DTs, but DE is not a disaster.

Let's not kid ourselves...the DT position will most likely be ignored again. Ced Thornton is the starter and we all know Hayden is going to be brought back. David Irving behind Crawford and then have a young 5th DT for the rotation that may or may not be on the roster already.

I'll be really surprised if that isn't how it plays out honestly

Find a guy going under the radar and focus on him. I think Karl Joseph will be a better safety than Ramsey, and we could get him in the 2nd, the 3rd if we risk it. And I think Hassan Ridgeway might be the best DT in the draft, and we can get him in the 3rd, the 4th if we risk it. Another guy who might be a hidden gem is Javon Hargrove. Small school guy but with freakish production. But he lacks the ideal size and speed Ridgeway has and never played against elite competition.

Agree.this is the Marinelli effect, Jerry still thinks he is a miracle worker.we really need a RDE badly and 2 DTs in the draft but we will lucky if we draft 1 DE.

Figures.look at the SB giants team and look at us.a single FA DT should not make you avoid the position entirely but it will.I know how our FO thinks and they are amazingly shortsighted.our drafts under Mcclay are nothing special, we go out of way to avoid the drafts strengths like the RBs Last year.

Yes, but are the players valued high due to positional value rather than actual talent? That seems like it might be the case.

Having Irving may prove to be a very important addition to this team, especially if we use him at DE during Gregory's suspension.

The strength of this draft is interior DL and RB
Those are the 2 positions we have signed potential starters in FA where we could have upgraded with a young impact player relatively cheaply
Watch us go through this draft and not pick either position

My problem is that Dallas DT's are small. Crawford and Irving both could be DE's. Doesn't Garrett rave about the position flexibility??? Hayden is single blocked all game long. I like the new guy Thornton, but IMO, they should use him at both DT positions, and that means he needs a very good 1T who demands a double team to line up beside him at least some of the time.

Billings, Rankins, AShawn all fit the bill, but IMO -- Dallas just doesn't see the need, and so their defense will still be weak.

DE already has Lawrence, last years 5th in Russell, Mayowa, Gregory (from game 5 on) and two guys with position flex in Crawford and Irving...............for 2 positions.

DT has Thornton who has position flex at 1T - 3T, and Crawford/Irving 3T-DE hybrids......... I don't count Hayden or mr injury, etc. as they have not proven anything.

I guess I will never understand why Dallas refuses to draft a guy who is big enough and strong enough to demand a double team, and be able to push the pocket backwards.

as long as he runs his antiquated system here we wont a top 10 defense here, our DTs are getting beaten up and they are worn out completely at the end of the season and yet we refuse to draft a DT. this is a historic DT class and i wont be surprised if we pass on DTs completely .

I think he can put together a highly ranked unit but I doubt it will be a unit that gets turnovers and gets off the field on 3rd downs.

We just won't allow a lot of yards.

I just cant behind a 4-3 system where stopping the run is not a priority especially in the NFC east,The not drafting DTs thing is all on Marinelli,we have repeatedly passed on very good DL talent because of him.

I would love to see us obtain two really stud interior DL out of this draft class. I'm all for position flex, if you are really going to flex them. If we get two stud interior players out of this draft and kick out Irving or Crawford to DE during Gregory's ban, then position flex was a valuable thing AND it would explain not having urgency at getting a top flight DE in free agency. It also makes sense. If you can't beat them with SPEED at DE then by all means put 4 big uglies on that D-line and collapse the pocket on every down.

We will draft another CB and DE early this draft, and again next draft..... live with it!

Last year has to be career lows for TO's for him. He's always produced TO's. IMO it might have more to do with playing more man then zone last year!

We simply cannot come out of this draft without a DE and DT in first 4 rounds. We also need QB and CB.
I personally want a DT at #34. Butler. The rest you can draft in any order you want.
