The switch to Romo should help blocking from a confidence standpoint

I'm sorry, but the team is so worried about protecting Bledsoe that they are bewildered out there.

With Romo back there, I think the protection from Oline, TE's, and RB's will get a fresh start and attitude because they won't be terrified about every block needing to be 100% perfect. I can't come up with any other reason for all the brutal mistakes in protection. I think it is nerves and confidence. Against decent teams our protection breaks down all over the place, it isn't just one thing.

With a more scrambly QB perhaps our players will relax a bit, and play ball instead of lurching around like chickens with their heads cut off.

It goes back to that question of us dictating the game, or letting other team dictate the game to us so that we have our players not playing to their strengths.

Romo needs to cut down the sandlot and silly plays and use his skills to buy our offense time to do it's thing. That will allow our talented players to get open. We didn't have this option with Blesdsoe and that isn't Bledsoe's fault. He wasn't going to turn into Randal Cunningham after 13 seasons being what he is.

This might be one of the hidden benefits to using Romo. A spark in attitude and a fresh start to our protection schemes where they aren't depressed and down regarding the odds of keeping QB upright.

I agree with this. Those who have been wondering where the Two TE offense went might actually get an answer here. I think Romo will definatly help our OL. Romo's problem is impulse throws, not mobility. If he can control his "gunslinger" we might find that he really can open up the offense a bit.

Hey guess what. We didn't even have to max protect in the 2nd half last night and keep both tight ends in. Our tight ends were actually running routes!!! Imagine that! :D

We were also down and throwing every down. I don't think it's guaranteed that the offense will look like that in a week.

Unless Romo throws three picks in the first half - which would be a changeup. then we'll air it out again.

Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking to me. I think they just aren't that good. Colombo is slow, Rivera is old, Gurode & Kosier are mediocre, Flo screws up.

Or maybe it gets worse because they don't know the QB and they don't know where he's going to be, or what he expects.

The problem they have isn't confidence, the problem they have is that almost all of them are doing stupid things. You just can't let a LB get an unblocked up the middle shot at a QB.

I think players help each other out.

If a RB doesn't occasionally make a guy miss, his oline starts to worry about run blocking.

If a QB isn't going to go down a ton, you gain confidence and stop sweating all the little things.

It's like a military battle, you can't win if you don't attack eventually. Our offense is constantly on the defensive, trying to keep our QB alive. Glenn and Owens don't have time to get open, and Witten is in blocking. Those are our passing game weapons. The play where TO was open for the touchdown and Bledsoe's hand got hit was perfect example. I think the confidence on oline is in shambles.

Although I do agree that the talent and upside on the oline is very mediocre too, but that is why you use the QB that can buy a bit more time. I don't expect Romo to be Vick, but if he can gain a 2nd or two in pocket without making the stupid sand lot plays, it will improve offensive momentum and help gain some momentum.

The little things like figuring out your vetern line needs to block an inside blitz? Thats not a little thing, its a big thing. A big thing that all those dirt movers should have figured out in their high school careers.

I think we have plenty of physical talent on the line. I think the problem with them right now is between the ears, and thats not likely to get fixed. When someone comes unblocked through the middle, unless its a designed QB Draw, your going to get sacked most of the time.

As we flail about debating QBs - who at Valley Ranch takes the responsibility for the miserable O-Line? Everybody knew it was the #1 offseason priority. How do you miss on that target? Who screwed up? Who can be trusted to get it right next season? Why isn't the O-line coach getting grilled or replaced? The performance was simply horrible - they were human turnstiles.
Yea, we got a kicker (seriously overdue) and yea, we got TO. But without a
solie O-Line the team looks below average.
