I know it has been a favorite thread on here for several weeks, and it should be, not because he's greedy and asking for too much or delaying shoulder surgery BUT because he is such a valuable member of this this defense. As a LDE working on the strong side he has few peers at the position as far as stopping the run and getting after the QB. There is no debating that.

Remember the "step on the throat statement", I think it was before the Saints game. Something like "knock 'em down, step on their throat and don't let them back up". He backed those words with action and play. On top of that, he is by all accounts a vocal leader on and off the field. The man deserves to be paid as a top LDE.

If the FO is concerned about durability, GOOD. That means they have turned a corner on paying big $ to players with a history of injury. I can name two players who signed big contracts very quickly, one prone to broken clavicles and one prone to knee injury. You know of whom I speak. Yes, durability should be a talking point

As far as holding back on surgery until a contract is signed, put yourself in Tanks's shoes, what if the surgery doesn't go well. What if the doctors say "it was a liitle more problematic than we thought". Where are you then?As fans we say, he's using the surgery as a negotiation tactic. I suppose he is but he played through it all last season and said very little.

It's not Tanks problem or fault that there is very little depth behind him at LDE should his shoulder surgery delay his return. We've had ample opportunity to address it in FA or the draft. Instead we reached for a "war daddy" in the 2017 draft and got Taco. It's Taco's responsibility to step up as a first round draft pick and play well behind Tank. IT isn't Tanks responsibility to rush to surgery so we don't have to rely on Taco.

See different perspective and Tank IS OUR WAR DADDY!

Ill see you one additional player prone to pulled hammys lol..

I like your post, but will argue it is Tanks responsiblity to prepare his body and train during the offseason. Im not sure he can do that nursing this injury.

Yes Taco needs to step up regardless.

How often have standard surgeries failed on pro athletes?

The delay on surgery shows that money is more important than winning.

The agent is trying to make a name for himself and DLaw is dumb enough to go along with it. DLaw could end up making zero in 2019 and will never regain that in the future.

It is both Tanks responsibility and the teams responsibility to look after Tanks body and conditioning. No, it can't be forced on him. Again, put yourself in his shoes, no contract, and surgery looming. Wouldn't YOU want that contract signed beforehand CWR? I would

That's true but no one knows standard until the knife is inserted. I assume MRI's have been done but that's an assumption

It is still up to D-Law's benefit to have shoulder surgery already and be ready for the beginning of the 2019 season, whether with the Cowboys or some other team (if traded). By delaying his shoulder surgery purely based on "leverage" for a new contract is inexcusable, sends the wrong message and shows how irresponsible and troublesome he can be off the field. Not the signs of a true leader but instead a potential headache.

I can’t blame him for wanting to get paid and I get the surgery thing. It’s probably more about leverage
I think it’s a mistake but I get it
I just want it done
We need him and across from Quinn we could have a good pass rush
I also see the teams side of it

You are brave to post another Tank thread. The Forum Police are a nasty, testy bunch. I love it though. You got an idea - go for it.

My view - maybe I am getting old but there is something to be said about wanting to play in Dallas. Sean Lee definitely wants to and he signed a contract that will allow Dallas to make other moves to win. Tom Brady certainly wants to play in NE and win. Tank, and maybe it is his agent, is coming across greedy. The no surgery thing is also a big no-no for me. If this continues he won't be ready to go week one anyway. Who does that help? The agent is supposed to be a major league azz clown. Who needs that? Plus, people seem to forget 2.5 years ago "Tank" wasn't a Tank at all. He was like one of those rusty old Technicals our sandy friends like to drive around to terrorize the weak with. Until our boys dust them.

I have changed my opinion on Lawrence. They need to move on. Dak, Zeke, Cooper and Smith are all more important. Problem is the old drunk and his spawn have hurt the trade value. Looking at a 2/3. Deep DT draft so maybe get a couple guys in the interior that can be nasty.

My 2 cents...

Yes, you could take it that way for sure

2 cents added, I'm going for a buck fifty. Point of view accepted, I can always learn from the old

84 mill guaranteed for a guy who has been healthy 30-40% of his time here is the problem.. Somebody I’m sure knows the exact percentage but the point being is that it’s a brutal sport and locking up that much coin for a guy you might get 2-3 years out of is not wise.

I’d rather pay him 23 per with like 45 guaranteed but not 84....

But then he threw out the "take their soul" before the Rams game....and didn't

We've seen it to many time, delay a surgery, and a player struggles thru the year after coming in in poor condition, add in the mental drop in performance after getting paid

Do we know it's $84m he's going after. Last thing I read was $67m

I said it was a different perspective, I didn't say it was the right or only perspective

Respectfully, no new perspective here at all. You are basically siding with the player, not the team. I dont blame him for wanting the most money, although I think it looks like sheer greed with no concern for team cohesion. The delay of surgery is something I can't forgive. That is irresponsible and unfair.

Was that a jeer or a sneer, couldn't tell :)

It was neither, just nothing different about the perspective that hasn't been hashed and rehashed already. Maybe it will be a requirement that every CZ member start a Tank thread, there may still be a handful that haven't yet. It's getting near the level of starting a new why Dak sucks or great thread.

lol, the new perspective WAS siding with the player

Jeez man I honestly thought it was a different perspective. Most are pretty defamatory of the player, sort of like Dak lol.
