OK, it's the morning after and I have read a lot of analysis on the game. The team we all love has issues and it appears that they are season long ones. The decisions made in the off season are now very visible to the analyst and the rest of Cowboy nation.
1. The OL is not the same as last year and looks to be the offense weak link. The loss of two OL players in the run game has made it an average to just above average. This fact will cost a team that wants to dominate with the running game.
2. Zeke is still not in football shape, even though he did show a few runs pushing the line back.
3. Dak is playing average QB. Some of this is from the pass rush, but most is from not finding the right WR in the play. When he is pressured he becomes inaccurate. At this point, I believe that he will have trouble the rest of the year until the Cowboys find a better QB coach (see Goff).
4. The defense leaks like a sieve, and misses Lee badly. However, even the last game the LBs look loss in the plays. One of the analyst I read indicate that the way to beat the Cowboys is to use the RBs as receivers. This was pretty evident from watching Gurley yesterday.
5. The secondary needs a complete overhaul of the entire scheme. The zone that they play puts no one in a position to make plays. The players look ok but they seem out of position and have to chase the WR.
6. The coaching staff needs to quickly change the schemes when one of their old ones does not work! This was the biggest reason why the Cowboys loss yesterday. I was defending them for a couple of years but I now see that Garrette needs to change the secondary coach or the DC. The OL coach needs to be changed to fit the new personnel alignment. Doing the same thing and expecting different results defines the term insanity.
7. Lastly, it is looking like Zeke will not be with the team for 6 games. It could start as soon as this coming weekend. The team does not look like it knows what to do without him. The tell of two teams could start this weekend with the offense not scoring at less 30 points a game. Even though we get back another DE and Lee, the defense has a hard time keeping the other team (except weak ones) from scoring 35 points.
