Is it me, or does Choice look like he gets faster in bad conditions? He almost looked quicker today and in, say, last year's Pittsburgh's game; almost as if other guys are slowed down by the field but he continues on at a normal pace.
The unfortunate truth is that none of those three guys will ever get the carries they deserve. I think the easiest role to define is Felix's. He's not the guy you want taking the bulk of the carries and he's also the guy you can just insert on any given play and, poof, he's gone for 40 yards.
Choice strikes me as a player that gets better with more carries. I do think he's someone better served to get 10-12 carries than just five. Barber is a great energizing force with his reckless style and the classic finisher, short-yardage and goal-line guy. You can't give him too many carries but you don't want to neglect him either. He seems to run with the most purpose early and late.
I can't help but wonder if we'd be best served by starting Barber, playing Choice for most of the second and third quarters and then giving Barber the fourth. All the while Felix is given a smattering of plays here and there. Just a thought.
The good news? I think out of the group Choice most closely resembles a rhythm back, but none of the three really seems to need a consistent dose of carries to be effective. I like that.
