The trade for Roy Williams is looking better all the time

With everyone trying figure out how to trade down, and in some cases, (Patriots etc.) looking to trade out of the first round altogether, the trade, value wise looks like a great move.

There will be no WR at 20 that is better than RW. Jerry can be smart at times.

I wouldn't call it a great move at all because RW was coming here in free agency anyway. That being said, this draft is the worst I've seen in at least a decade.

not saying i regret the trade, but it seems like both boldin and edwards can be had for less than what dallas gave detroit for williams.

Does anyone really think we would have gotten as good a deal salary cap wise getting him in FA?

Only someone with no knowledge of football puts edwards in the same class as Roy.
As has been shown Boldon would have wanted more money and we probably would have had to use more picks.

It seems a lot of fans and even the media have forgotten about what Roy Williams is capable of doing on the field.

I know we gave up a lot and he was less than impressive last season, but Williams is a talented receiver and he should start making good on his contract next season.

Roy was working out and catching passes from Tony Romo almost as soon as the season ended, something Terrell Owens could never fit into his off-season schedule.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Jerry Jones gave up more because we got to have Roy Williams during last season instead of after it.

That didn't turn out so well for us, but that is why we included the third rounder. If it had been done during the off-season, we wouldn't have offered as much.

The best part about it is he is training hardcore to be the best he can and working with the coaching staff.

Nicks will be there at 20, I really think he is going to surprise a lot of people.

Detroit would have franchised him and gotten at least 1st and another pick out of him. There's no way we would have gotten him "free" in FA.

Given the asking price for Boldin is no longer a 1st, I'd say the trade was still a bad one. I like Williams, just not at that price.

If the asking price for Boldin is only a 2nd (which I very much doubt) it's because the rumors of his serious hip problems are true. Healthy, there's no way he'd go for that little.

Nothing wrong with that.

We gave up a hefty sum in draft picks and salary to call Roy Williams a Dallas Cowboy.

But I believe he will start making good on his potential next season with America's Team. There will be enormous pressure from media and fans, but the table is set for Williams to be the man in our passing attack.

Absolutely right. Contract wise, the trade looks better as this draft unfolds. Value wise, Williams has better tools than any of the guys that are looking to get picked early. At the very least, he's going to be better than Oakland's addition. Is Al Davis nuts or what?

Seriously, you really think Nicks is going to be a better receiver than Roy Williams?
