The trade grade = Dallas

So they said we sucked before the trade and now we suck more. That's not a great argument against acquiring assets and saving 47mpy in cap.

Nor is it a defense for the FO building a crappy team to begin with….

Fred Dean had 17.5 sacks in 83 and 6 in one game . Consistent pass rushing edge threat with the 49ers . Maybe this is a different game a different world than 83 but in no way shape or form should Fred Dean have been the highest paid non QB of his era . I’m watching Fred Dean when I see Parsons .

At what point does salary cap implications hinder handing out this kind of contract with the Prescott $$ the elephant in the room . Goodness find a buyer for him Jerry .

I made the similar point that the Prescott contract has really messed with our cap and maybe had a hand in some choices.

Absolutely. I think Jerry was gun shy about having the highest paid QB & player in football plus the highest paid non QB in football and still struggling to compete .

The issue is so many fans, even on this forum, thinking we could pay all of these guys. Someone had to go - Prescott, CeeDee, Parsons, etc. One of them was going to be the odd man out. Parsons helped make himself that.

You can't have a franchise QB contract + another franchise QB-like contract hitting your cap. Not how it works. We got two firsts for Micah, probably could have had a better trade with a worse team a couple months ago. Jerry waited and played Micah's lame game - now we got a lesser deal. But it is still 2 firsts.

Honestly, I can’t say which team is worse off after the trade. The Packers aren’t exactly a talent-laden squad awaiting that one final piece. They had three pro bowlers last year, and not one was the quarterback. As of today, with no first round picks over the next two years and large amounts of dead money, they have almost no way of improving their team in the short term.

And Dallas is, well, Dallas.

Dallas is after all a failed franchise with no future.

We still have the option to trade the two number one picks for a WR who can then blow his knee out in his first game with us.
The problem we have is that we do not have a General Manager that has any clue about what to do to build a contender. Jethro will fritter away the 2 picks that will be more like 2 second round picks and you know how great we are with Devin round picks.

I think we could have paid all 3 guys and the compensation we received was pitiful.

Not at all. There is enough cap here and now, they could get rid of him next year. Won't happen.
