its a sad day when Cowboy fans celebrate a Cards win!

We're not celebrating a Cards win. We're celebrating an Eagles loss.

Get with da program, man. ;)

we got rings, and they don't. :starspin

The above is an example of living in the past. Today's Cowboys are symbolism over substance.

Your observation has zero merit. Yesterday is the past. An hour ago is the past. A second ago is the past. Did you suddenly develop amnesia during any of those timeframes? Of course not and neither did anyone else.

The Patriots were almost undefeated last season, but this year they missed the playoffs. Did the New England franchise's legacy inherit both 18-1 and 11-5 teams during the past two seasons or was that just a mirage?

Wake up. History is never trivial, unless you're a Commanders fan, that is.

Cowboys teams have struggled to repeat prior greatness which was attained by the teams of the mid-90's, but the Cowboys franchise still remains as one of the most successful organizations in both NFL history and (most certainly) during the Super Bowl era. The Cowboys franchise has sustained many seasons which have proven disappointing, but it hasn't lobotomized it's fans of its many successful seasons either.

Winning and losing go hand-in-hand in the NFL, so don't hate. Appreciate. We are the Dallas Cowboys. Like it or don't, but try getting over your misplaced cynicism first.

Show me the substance of the current Cowboys. The poster said "we got rings." Sorry we've got nothing. The great teams of the past won championships and rings which lends nothing to today, but the current Cowboys have done little more than represent all that destroys team sports.

The franchise has won five Super Bowls.

The current collection of players (e.g. the team) has won squat.

A Cowboys fan can claim one or the other or both and they don't have to "destroy team sports" by doing so.

Sorry. That's your Fail #2. Keep trying.

That's not the substance of this thread.

Your argument should be in the thread called "what have you done for me lately", or "current Cowboys". Something along these lines.

And, of course, THEN your points are valid and meaningful and depressing. Dead on right, we need to improve greatly on "lately".

It's perfectly acceptable to have a discussion about Trophy's, Rings and Championships. It's one of many conversations that can be had amongst Pro Football fans. And THAT IS WHAT this thread is about.

So, in keeping with WHAT THIS THREAD is about, the score is 5-0 in wins, and 8-2 in appearances in SB games. It's a natural and expected response from any Cowboy fan who has to listen to some Eagle-Idiot fan making a HUGE deal over a regular season or playoff win over Dallas.

What would you expect us to say?????

After they spanked us BUT GOOD the last game this year, I read on several Eagle outlets that THIS WIN is in top-5 all time great Eagle wins!!! Carrying on like they just won their 6th SB Trophy and are now "the greatest team ever"!

That's what happens when several things are in play. They haven't won a SB. So their bitter and angry and pissed and jealous, on TOP of being a bum from Philly. Furthermore, their "***** envy" has THE MOST Trophy's. That would be................uh...................oh yeah, DALLAS!!!!

So, they WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY overdo it over much lesser "wins" over us than they have to. All you gotta do his say the word "FIVE", that's it, and you win the debate. Oh, they'll call you ever gutter-snipe, bottom-feeding, maggot-troll name in the book. But they know you got 'em, and you'll ALWAYS have that card to play. No matter how many regular season games they beat us and knocked us out of a playoff run.

This franchise is in uncharted waters. We have never had a spell like this. In the past it was not if we would make the playoffs. It was would we get to the SB and win it. The expectations haven't changed but after 12 seasons of no playoff wins I'm getting antsy. My life could be running out. I'd love to see another SB win before then. Right now I'm not real confident.

You don't have to be a drama queen to understand there is a problem with the franchise and discuss it.

The apprehension is real. We have drafted well. Added free agents relatively well. We have coaches with individual strengths (Phillips/3-4 defense, Garrett/offense). Regardless of his critics, the owner/general manager wants to win badly.

So, what happened in 2008? It's a cliche, but on paper, "it" was there. It fell apart. Injuries should not have been enough to prevent the team from reaching its goal. Something fouled the 2008 blueprint in Dallas. If those gaffes can be identified and corrected, there is no reason to believe that the franchise can't be Super Bowl competitive for five or more years. However, where are the reassurances of that happening? That is what's most scary for me personally: the not knowing.

Hardly uncharted:

60s - we sucked, but improved at the end of the decade.
70s - good and 2 Super Bowls (5 appearances).
80s - started okay, faded and never made a Super Bowl.
90s - good and 3 Super Bowls.
00s - sucked, but are improving.
10s - here come more Super Bowls (based on history).
