Some were seeing this game against the Patriots as the litmus test for this team, but the actual test for this team is the next three games. We face a good Bills team at home, a so-so Chicago team on the road in the cold and a good Rams team at home.

We weren't supposed to beat the Patriots at home, where they had won their past 20 games and know how to handle the elements. We can be mad about the poor coaching and bad calls that contributed to the loss, but it isn't like losing to the Patriots in New England is an unexpected result for any team. Winning would have defied the odds. It would have been a signature victory, but ultimately meaningless if we failed in these more winnable games.

We have not beaten a winning team so Buffalo is our chance to change that. We haven't looked like a contender so these next three games are a chance to change that. We'll see if this collection of talent can step up to the challenge and drag some of the poor coaching decisions with it.

I have my doubts, but I'm looking forward to seeing if this team can prove them wrong.

The Bills and Bears both suck.

As has been the case since Week 1, the Cowboys will be the more talented team on the field every week from here on out.

The Bills are 8-3. They lost to New England about like we did. Like us, they haven't really beaten any good teams.

Chicago has some offensive issues, but still has a strong defense and the elements should help with that.

Neither of these teams are among the top echelon, but they are the next tier down, which is what we are on right now. Beating them would show that we can play above that level.

The difference between the Cowboys and Bears/Bills is that one of those teams has an offense.

The Bills offense is terrible, and their defense isn't really any better than Dallas'

I just can’t see how they beat the Rams. They are gonna run it down their throats and screen pass them to death.

Oh please. Dallas is on the tier with the Chargers, Broncos, Jags, Cardinals, etc. Don't rank us with teams that have playoff hopes, competent coaches, and players that actually care.

We beat the Bills. We lose to the Bears. We beat the Rams. We beat the Eagles. We win the division. And make it to the NFC Championship Game, by beating the Seahawks and the Packers.

Garrett gets a one year extension.

This is Jason Garrett's wet dream. It WONT happen. I know you're being sarcastic, but it's funny seeing it typed out.

OL aside Dallas doesn’t have more talent than the Rams.

Have you noticed we keep moving the goalposts on the "biggest game" or the "true litmus test"?

sooner or later a test has to yield results. the oft ballyhooed litmus test appears to be worthless.

When you play around .500 ball and tease with SB aspirations every year, every game is a "test".

I just can’t see how they beat the Rams. They are gonna run it down their throats and screen pass them to death.

I think that's our most likely loss of the group. Losing to the others won't surprise me, though.

I just cannot understand this B.S. participation trophy crap from you posters here.

So losing to the Patriots is a given, and winning would defy all odds???
So, what if we were able to meet them in the Super Bowl? Just roll over and lose because they're expected to win?
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I guess the young & dumb crowd forgets what winning truly means. The great championship Cowboy teams were able to win the big games. If they wouldn't have been able to beat the best team of that era (the 49ers), they wouldn't have three of their Super Bowl trophies.

The apathy towards winning and the acceptance of mediocrity around here is truly mind boggling!

OL is half of the offense...

And yes they do anyway. Dallas is better at every position on offense. Cooper/Gallup/Cobb is better than Kupp/Cooks/Woods, Dak>Goff. Defense is probably a wash b/c of Donald.

Our real test is always the next game.

Well, when it comes down to beating the Patriots at home in the cold, rain and wind, then yeah, our real test is the next game. That game as a litmus test was never a reality.

And I don't consider just beating the Bills to be the test. There are questions about their success. All it will mean is that we finally beat a winning team (although they could technically end up .500 for the season, but not likely).

Beating the Bears will prove that we can win at a tough December road site, but it also won't mean much more because the Bears have issues on offense.

So, I can kind of see all three as a package of proof. We probably won't win all three, so we'll prove what a lot of us already believe about this team, though, and we'll still need to beat the Eagles to make the playoffs unless they flub one of their easy games.
