What difference does it make? I mean, really. This dedication to mediocrity is not an issue that just came up or started once Jason became HC. The real issue has been festering for 25 years.

We have an amateur of a GM, a selfish, ego-maniacal, self promoting fool that will surely interfere at every possible level and during any circumstance. No coach can completely instill his particular coaching philosophy without it being totally undermined by Jerry Jones at some point.

If you are offended by the next paragraph, just remember, it was Jerry Jones who has always insisted that he will never step down.

The fact that Jerry Jones will never step down implies that there is only one way in which the Cowboys will have a different GM, although it's quite possible he would voluntarily leave on his 100th birthday. It's also not out of the realm of possibilities that he be forced out by his son with the assistance of Jerry's mental health report and a shady lawyer or two. In any case, and here is the controversial part, if we want a real change then we have to wait for the death or mental deterioration of the current GM. that is pretty much the description of a "lifetime" appointment.

So, as lift this frosty beer to my mouth, please allow me to make this toast, "To your health, Jerry!"...... I mean that with all sincerity.

I wouldn't say they are amateurs, they've been doing this for a lot of years. I say unqualified to do the job..lol

While I believe Garrett has not done a good job of in game management, I also believe we won't know how he would "coach" without the meddling of Jerry.

What owner second guesses the coach minutes after a game? What owner allows the coach to be bypassed for closed door meetings with players?

I said it in another thread but for all those crying for a new head coach...the same guy who hired garrett and kept him around for so long is the same guy who's going to hire the next guy. IT IS NOT GOING TO GET ANY BETTER. PERIOD.

Always enjoy your little Jerruh' rants. No-one dresses down the pig better than you.

'Viva la revolucion!'

The way I look at it is this...............

We've seen for 8+ years the results of the Jerry + Garrett show. That equations equals the results we have.

With the understanding that it's likely Jerry hires another boob, I am still willing to move on this offseason and take the chance that Jerry just gets stupid lucky here and finds a really good head coach.

I'd rather hope to get lucky than sit here and just keep repeating the same stuff with the same old coach.

PS - I still believe there's a good chance that end of the season, Jerry scapegoats Linehan and maybe Moore and brings back Garrett and doesn't even consider looking at bringing in another QB in the draft. He'll convince himself a better OC will save Garrett and salvage Dak.

Jerry, while a Salesman, can be sold as well. If they bring in a real football HC that know's what he's doing he will blow them away in the interview process.

It needs to be done.

Oh look it's Rubberman again
Anything to excuse Garrett
Anything

You forget the chapter on nepotism where it ended in Jerry’s kid making important football decisions.
For whatever reason some fans have been acting like Stephen is a better solution...he’s not. I blame this whole “we like our guys”, no need to improve through free agency garbage on him. At least when Jerry was in control I got the sense that he at least tried. Of course the teams stlll mostly stunk and a lot of the moves were bad, but now our team stinks and the FO does absolutely nothing to even pretend like they care about improving the team.

......you know, I really believe if Jerry finds some HC that knows how to win. He wont **** with the process. Its been to long, and he's to old for that stuff now.

Aside from someone who might actually do a little coaching and manage the game better while on the sidelines, a new coach would be a fresh voice influencing Jerry.

"I think there's a definite misperception. I just think everyone thinks things are a certain way. I didn't see it to be that way. I think Jerry is a good businessman and a good listener. What you have to do is make sense to him. You've got to make sense to him. If he thinks you're making sense, he'll alter his opinion. I enjoyed him. I like him. I like him a lot."

I have been saying for the last 10 years that nothing will change until Jerry passes away. Sorry to say.

Maybe we should march outside The Star with signs and skeletor masks..?

And there in lies the real issue... WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COMES TO COACH HERE? Seriously guys, who would be willing to put their reputation on the line to come here and be that porch dog who gets kicked every time the owner has to step over him.... just sayn

The Cowboys biggest problem remains unchanged for over 2 decades. As I've said, they will can this coaching staff at season's end and we will likely see a short term uptick, but not a whole lot will change for the better.

We've gone from Garrett being a really good coach to now, well, Jerry stinks at picking coaches so why even bother to get rid of Garrett.

I consider that progress, in a bizarre way.

Exactly
Let's go with known continued mediocrity because the next coach our moron GM (who is supposedly not really the GM) might be worse?

Makes total sense to rubberman apparently
