The Truth about the Loss

I had a real hard time with this one, still am. Gonna take at least a few days.

I just couldn't figure it out. It all seemed to happen so fast and there were no words to explain it. Sure, Romo blew some plays but it had to take a lot more to fail that epically.

And epic fail we did. The whole team failed.

Why? No one has put their finger on it yet that I can tell. I had even forgot during the aftershock what happened. But during the game, I started screaming for us to wake up after the first Romo pick. And the second. And their first drive. And their second.

We went from a team who couldn't be stopped and couldn't be scored on to a team that gave up 31 points in less than 2 quarters.

How is it possible?

Simple. We feel asleep. Romo fell asleep on the Carp pick. Robinson on the next one. The line did here and there. Then the defense did, even the coverage team. So did the home crowd.

Everybody thought the game was over. They were looking forward to 3-1 and the BYE. It felt good. Might as well get it started, right?

Wrong. And this is a failure of coaching mostly. Throw Romo in there as the unquestioned team leader. Coaches and leaders gotta scream at people after that first pick. Certainly after the second. No one should be immune, even if it doesn't make sense. Why? Because we all fell asleep, and those at the top have to realize it and wake everyone up!

We hadn't faced this situation in a LONG TIME (since all our games recently have been close). Garrett has never faced a blow out as a head coach, and Ryan has never faced it with this team. Romo hasn't faced it in a long time either, and maybe just maybe he let his guard down (bc everything had been coming up Romo).

We can only hope they learn. If not, we're doomed. If they do, we could be really good. Simple as that.

In case you missed it the Cowboys (Romo in particular) handed the Lions the game on a silver platter, much like 3 weeks ago. When a team gets an INT for a TD statistically they win approximately 80% of the time. See if you can guess what happens when they do it twice in one game.

Your point is totally irrelevant. Yes, we gave them the game. My post is about why -- some say bc Romo is a choker, some bc of Garrett's play calls, etc.

I am saying its more simple -- we fell asleep. The whole team. And the fans. i could feel it in the air. Try to read next time before you post

You can blame the play calling all you want, romo is 31 years old, has been a starter for 6 seasons, sometimes it simply comes down to if its not there throw it away, or check down.

Have it your way. When you lose a game you are leading by 3 1/2 scores at home to a team that showed no signs of life, I'll stick my chocking explanation.

Sorry dude, this one is obviously on Romo - few teams in history could have overcome his epic blunders. This will be an NFL top 5 choke job for eternity.

For the most part, I agree. They got that lead and pretty much lost the hunger, after that they were just struggling to turn it back on and before you know it, game over.

That Robinson pick is not Romo's fault. Robinson has to cross face. Rule #1. Romo is throwing before he knows because that is the way the play goes.
And maybe the play calling had something to do with it.

So, Romo makes a blunder, then Robinson. Then the Defense. Then the coach.

This was a TOTAL team failure. No way around it. Even with Romo's three turnovers all on him, we are still up.

We fell asleep. It was so obvious.

They didn't lose the hunger, they were in utter shock of what happened.

Two games we are in control enough to win and we lose.
Two games we have to fight like dogs the entire game and we win.
The problem seems pretty obvious to me. We need to step on their throats and not let off until the clock reads 0:00

I can't blame the defense, they gave up 20 points to a very potent offense, 3 of which were because of a turnover.

That's what I kept screaming! Don't let up!

But I could see it slipping away like in slow motion. Romo started it (he is the pulse of the team) and then everyone else just snoozed off

I'm not blaming the defense, but earlier they couldn't be scored on then suddenly it was like you knew they were gonna give it up.

They fell asleep too

...is that it's just one game and there are 12 more to go. If Tony takes this loss as a sign that he can't win the big one as seriously as many of those on here and the media do, then we're doomed. I seriously doubt that he does.

Romo makes 3 blunders - the rest of the team says Whiskey Alpha Bravo - you can call it sleep or anything else you'd like, the team and history will hold Tony almost entirely responsible for the epic collapse - even though JG was obviously complicit.

No one, until you, said anything about Romo not being able to win the big one in this thread.

Because they were demoralized, once that momentum turns that much, its hard to get it back. The defense did their job, if I had told you coming in that our d would give up 20 points, would you have said win or loss?

It didn't need to be said here. It's all over this forum and in the media.

You're demoralized up ten? Against a team you had owned?

No, you fell asleep too. Ten is still a two score lead and a reason for joy in most games. BTW, Rob Ryan agrees with me on this one.

Garrett, Romo, Robinson, Ryan, the Defense. Who else?

They gave up three points all game, your going to kill them because they gave up a td to a very potent offense. We aren't the 85 bears, you can't expect domination.
