The Two Weeks Out Mock of Ages

I love the attention paid to the o-line, especially if Huff is brought in at FS, wouldn't be unhappy with this.

If this is what happens, the only thing that will make me happier would be bringing in Ras-I Dowling instead of Will Rackley.

Otherwise, amazing mock.

I think that mock an A+.

I'm sure to be disappointed on draft day if it doesn't unfold this way.

He has said it himself many times. He does not feel comfortable out on the end. His game is based on quickness. I feel he lacks the overall speed to have a huge impact on the edge. The defense had a ton of problems last season, I would not be surprised to see rat back to his 09 form along with the whole D.

I don't care what he wants, he doesn't know until he tries it. Gregg Ellis used to say the same think about going to 3-4 olb until he did it.
I think Rat will be just fine at 3-4 DE. Now rather he moves there or not is another thing. But in Ryan 3-4 defense he likes big space eating NTs that can stuff the run.

why do you not like Rackley? I think Rackley can be a day one starting LG as Dowling would have to play nickel and doesn't fit the Ryan 3-4 scheme.

I like Rackley just fine. I just feel that with the proper strength and conditioning program, from what I've seen in the Virginia area watching Dowling play, he has the potential (so nobody freaks out) to be the best cornerback in this draft. Day 1? No. Future? Yes, better than Patrick Peterson.

I like for the most part, though, I might target Ras I Dowling at 110 or even 71.

Um he started out as a DE. I think he knows what its like.....

yeah if you say so, We need a run stuffer. I like Brent but no fully sold on him. Give me Ian WIlliams and Brent at NT and we still have Rat to rely on. Move Rat to RDE with Bowen backing up.
You need a run stuffer at LDE so draft Jenkins or Ellis and move Igor to LDE.
your DL would be

LDE
Igor/Jenkins or Ellis

NT
Ian Williams/ Brent

RDE
Ratliff/ Bowen

I say so, so does the Dallas Cowboys, his peers, and the pro bowl voters. He already was a DE, it failed, and now he is a NT where he belongs. Ratliff at NT isn't the problem.

LDE
Olshansky/Bowen

NT
Ratliff the pro bowler/Brent

RDE
Cameron Heyward

Looks pretty darn good to me.

Here we go again with the pro bowls.

This is a team sport, it's not about Ratliff's pro bowls or Ware's pro bowls. It absolute HAS to be about what is best for the defense and what is best for the team.

If Ratliff at NT is what makes the defense better, then that's fine by me.

But, as I've said, I couldn't care less if Ratliff never went to another Pro Bowl again, if it meant we'd have a more dominant defense. I'd take the trade in a heartbeat. If moving Ratliff to DE is part of what makes this defense more effective, then moving him is a no brainer, Pro Bowls be damned.

That wasn't the point. The point is he was a De, he failed, and moved to where he was successful and helped the team. Him making the pro bowl is secondary.

How is he successful when our defense as a whole is sub par? You mean individually successful?

I like just about every single pick. I don't know who Rackley is but Moffitt is my favorite OG in this draft and you nabbed him. So, I love it.

I'm starting to get really amped. I kind of want the lockout to last past the Draft so there is pressure on the teams ahead of us to grab a QB while they still can. Anything to get Snookems Peterson to within grab distance for us.

Gonna operate as if he isn't there and we stay put.

#9. Tyron Smith, OT, USC, 6'5", 310. Day 1 starter at RT and Colombo is either released or becomes insurance as backup.

#40. Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State, 6'5", 295. Can be a day 1 starter if he pushes himself and beats out Stephen Bowen.

#71. Will Rackley, OG, Lehigh, 6'3", 310. Can be a day 1 starter if he beats out Leonard Davis. I would love that. Yeah, it means two rookies on the right. So what?

#110. John Moffitt, OG, Wisconsin, 6'4", 315. Or he can be a day 1 starter if he can beat out Leonard Davis. The other becomes the replacement for Kosier when he stops in a year or so.

#143. Henry Hynoski, FB, Pittsburgh, 6'2", 255. Day 1 starter at FB. I think he makes an immediate impact in the Offense.

#176. Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina, 6'2", 205. I have no idea why he is still dropping on all the Draft boards I see, but I think he is a steal anywhere past the 3rd round. Could one day take over for fellow Tarheel Gerald Sensabaugh whom I think will team up with Michael Huff in 2011 as our Safety tandem.

#220. Noel Devine, RB/KR/PR, West Virginia, 5'7, 175. Day 1 he is our primary return specialist and our 3rd RB after Barber is cut in a cap move. Dangerous in the open field. What do we do with Dez you ask? Use him in crucial situations where we need him, save him when we don't.

#252. Greg McElroy, QB, Alabama, 6'2", 225. This is mostly wishful thinking. He is the QB I want. A true football student of the game who reminds me of Jason Garrett in that respect. In fact I think he will one day get into coaching and why not with us? Nothing more than a backup, but those are vital needs. Especially smart ones.

I don't recall Dallas being a bad defense the three prior years so you can say the team and he were both successful. Were they dominant no, but they got the job done. Stopping the run in the past wasn't a problem before so how after one year it is now? I'm willing to bet losing spears, having Alan Ball start, and Jenkins going back to 08 form of punking out on tackling had more to do with it.

I don't think defenses work like that. Maybe in the past I would have agreed, but at this point your defense is either good or it's not.

There's no such thing as being "Good against the run but bad against the pass", you either have a good D or you don't. I've had enough of the moral victories, personally.

Maybe it's a mental toughness issue, but something hasn't been working.

I'll go out on a limb here. There is a positive correlation between # of pro bowlers and success on defense.

Not a sexy mock but when has the trenches ever been sexy. This draft would definitely upgrade our team. If Peterson is gone i have to at least think about Prince though.

I never said there couldn't or wouldn't be.

However, you should probably do the research, since it may not be as clear cut as you think.

The Commanders had 3 defensive pro bowlers last year and were 31st in overall defense. The Packers also had 3 and were 5th overall. The Chargers were #1 and had 1 Pro Bowler, and he was an alternate (Shaun Phillips).
