Got thinking today about all the old timers that the Cowboys have tried bringing back to life....and I couldn't think of many that panned out.

Maciles Wiley (DE)
Marco Rivera (OG When he plays)
Jason Fergeson(not sure he still plays)
Eddie George(RB)
A-Train(RB)
Richie Anderson (RB)
Kevin Hardy(LB)
Tony McGee (TE)
Ryan Leaf (QB)
Peerlise Price (WR)
[Did I miss anyone.. Duan Hawthrone

Player's who have earned their money in FA, La'Roi Glover, Glenn Key......Campbell
Bye Far the Cowboys suck at getting help thru FA,,,they commonly pick up the old washed up guys looking for a retirement check...

If the Cowboys are going to be a credible contender next year
They must get smart in FA.... the Boys did a awesome job in the 2005 draft... nows it time to hit the home run in the 2006 draft and FA

KEVIN HARDY PLAYED GREAT!

TONY McGee could always do that play where he fell down and then got up and ran for a TD.

Ritchie Anderson?

I would really take him off the list. He was Team MVP in 2003 and made some nice plays for us.

I think he earned his money. It wasnt his fault that Parcells kept trying to switch him from Fullback to Halfback and then back to Fullback.

He earned his money IMO and I dont think you can call him a bust when he catches what 70+ balls or something for you in a season as a Fullback with guys like Witten, Glenn and Key on the same team.

Hardy played fine when he was here. Ferguson is doing fine, if unspectacular.

Richie Anderson was arguably our offensive MVP in 2003.

Eddie George was never supposed to get that much playing time. A-Train didn't, he was purely an insurance policy in case Barber didn't pan out. Barber did, A-Train gone, no big loss.

Rivera and Wiley are the only two on your list signed to be impact starters who failed miserably. And Rivera got a heck of a lot more money than Wiley.

And let's not forget Adrien Murrell..... ;)

BTW Key was not a free agent.

Many of these guys were brought in cheap for veteran insurance, such as Tony McGee and A-Train. I would take them off the list. They were never asked nor expected to be world beaters, only fill a role.

What has Campbell done?

As in Dan Campbell?

Campbell is one of the best blocking tight ends in the league and is a team leader in the locker room.

Very undervalued because of what he does.

I need to go find that quote by Jason Witten, when he talked about how big of a loss it was when they lost Campbell for the season last year.

And he did make a big TD grab against the Chiefs too...to answer your question.

Dan Campbell wins the Dale Hellestrae Award for being the most funny, likable, stiff and slowest player in the lockerroom.

Ok now this leads me to the following question. look at all the Free Agents, Bill Parcels has brought in (no more TUNA unitl he wins again) has any of Friends of Bill or FA been worth a salt in DEVELOPING THIS TEAM or just constant patch work.... Now in 2005 Bill decides to tear apart the Cowboys and rebuild'em.....

It seems like his FA's are keeping us where we are/ but his latest draft is getting us better. Keep drafting good Bill.

Yep, we all know that the TE position is the end all solution to running the ball well.

We werent running the ball well with Flozell Adams in there either, but I certainly want him on this team next year.

I'm not saying remove him, i'm just saying that he's nothing special. Just a lot of face time on TV

Oh Okay, must have misread ya somewhere.

Oh yeah, I think the guy is a good locker room guy and good at some of the "dirtier" chores, but yes, he is expendable.
