Informative article written by Domonique Foxworth.

The Cowboys offense will need to make changes this season

The Dallas Cowboys are further away from their Super Bowl hopes than it appears. To win in the playoffs, their offense needs modification. And I don’t think they realize there is a problem. I do and I have the answer. But, before we get to that answer, I have a different question. Why did the Cowboys get beaten so badly by the Denver Broncos?

Bottom line - the offense needs to be more creative. For the life of me, I don't know why Garrett and Linehan insist on always just beating the man across from you rather than scheming them open once in a while.

This notion that Dak Prescott is a young Brady or Peyton is getting annoying.

Put less on Dak, not more. All this "reading" at the line of scrimmage is hurting him. He's just not ready to do that, if he ever will be.

Dak can't carry this team if the run game isn't working. No way, no how, right now.

Agreed. They're wanting to Dak to be a mini-Romo, and that's not realistic now (and maybe won't ever be).

They seem to be running with a completely different offensive style than the one that won us 13 games last year.

I thought the article was spot on. Dak thrives in boots, play-action and roll-outs, as his ball-handling skills are top notch, and we saw none of that on Sunday. Foxworth's point about running rub routes, pivot routes (all the routes that work better against man-coverage) is also on point, as they are quicker reads and quicker plays for the QB. Dak IS already excellent at pre-snap reads (read the column on him in www.presnapreads.com), so I also agree with the no huddle, but not necessarily hurry up approach.

Linehan et al seemed intent on "keeping it simple" on the road, and once the defense betrayed them and put them in a hole, it was a disaster as it played right into Denver's defensive game plan.

Run the ball. And when running up the middle doesn't work, run to the outside. Setup that play action. This offense behind and ends with the run. Even when not successful, keep running, and force that stacked box. Not every team has a Talib and Chris Harris. Oh, and more Dez running inside. Dak is way too inconsistent with the back shoulder fades and high point balls. More Zeke catches (also, Zeke needs to lose around 5-10lbs). More bease, more witten, just any open wr and stop forcing the ball to 88(ya know, reading the field). Also, 4 runs in the first half is unacceptable. Also, more runs on first down, punch em in the face early and often. As far as d, cross your fingers and hold your breath and pray for professional development (these cats are young). Just win baby! Lol

Because it takes the pressure off the coaches to...be creative.
