Only in Cowboyland can a completely perfect situation be turned into thoughtless negativity.

It's mind-numbingly simple. There is no quarterback controversy. Just a quarterback situation.

Tony Romo is the starting quarterback of this team until he proves he isn't.

Dak Prescott has proven he's ready to be the starting quarterback when Romo proves he can't perform better than Prescott.

Injury or poor performance will now replace Romo with Prescott almost immediately.

The pressure for Romo to perform will be pronounced, and he'll either prove himself fit, or he won't.

Romo is nearing the end, while Prescott is just beginning.

The transition will happen naturally and flawlessly very soon or down the road.

Any of those scenarios are perfectly fine.

Dak is the future of this team, that is not in question anymore. But man I will be awfully curious what teams that are desperately seeking a franchise QB in the offseason are going to be offering us for Dak if Romo is able to play out the season

note: this is just out of curiosity, I am in no way, shape, or form advocating we deal Dak for picks or any other transaction

Why would Dallas take a first-round pick for Dak, and then have to draft a QB and start over?

Agreed but of course it's not this simple. The media, fans and football insiders are all asking should Dallas just roll with Dak? It's become a legitimate question. There's chemistry and continuity issues as well. Not saying you're wrong. My excitement for Dak is not a knock on Romo. I think a lot of the excitement for Dak is new hope. Fair or not, the Romo era has been mired in failure, disappointment, mediocrity, "accidents," stumbles, and underachievement surrounded by prolific and sometimes brilliant QB play. This is our reputation.. this is the "book" on us... The GB game was just more of the same. ... The franchise and fanbase have come to expect excellence but it's been absent for 20 years.

Cowboys seem to be more even keeled with Dak. With Romo its big highs and low lows. There are pros and cons on both sides. The "big" plays out of nothing are lacking for Dak (compared to Romo and yes I know only 4 games resume so far) but there is potential there and he can beat you on the ground instead of air coryel-ing it out like Romo can but at this point I don't think Romo can air it out with his back issues. Remains to be seen.

you know besides the obvious... Dak is also more durable and fresh, Romo reads Ds better and adjusts because he has had more time in the system etc.

I'm more into the even keeled not throwing interceptions Cowboys with Dak and Dak hasn't reached his ceiling. But I do miss me some Romo spin move jedi trick magik. But I don't think Romo can be that good again because of his durability and his sensitivity. Maybe Romo already reached his ceiling in this system. I will be shocked if he comes back and does better than his 2014 version. SHOCKED!

The second coming of Romo (or is it third?) is on the horizon and we will see how this one transpires.

In your next thesis about all things non-consequential, would you please address the 20-40 meetings Dez has been late, where Dez says, "That's not true," Stephen says, "That's Just Dez," and Jerry says, "Yes, that'd be an accurate number."

Irreparable damage could be done if Dak is benched for no reason other than Romo is healthy. You have to factor how many have viewed the way the Cowboys have been run for the last 8 - 10 years. Pay attention to the things players have said on their way out the door. Do not discount how cozy Jones, Garrett, Romo, Witten and to a lesser extent Murray have been over the years. If this is about FOOTBALL....and this FOOTBALL team wins the next 2 games against Cincy and Green Bay. It would make ZERO FOOTBALL sense to bench Dak.

It would send the wrong message to these young players if all the momentum THEY have created is completely pushed aside for NON FOOTBALL reasons. This is the organizations chance to show they are back to making FOOTBAL the #1 priority. Again all this hinges on them continuing to win and Dak continuing to play well...which is what we ALL should want!

Or....The Cowboys offense opens up completely and starts scoring 30+ points like Romo typically does.

This is easy.

Like I said in another post....did you pay close attention to Romo last year when he WASN'T hurt? He will get blitzed into retirement if he gets back there. Romo does not want to stand in their anymore. And honestly, I don't blame him.

Can't wait to see your write-up and take on this issue, which to some here is no issue at all.

We've beaten it to death. Dez is what he is, but he's all-in on Sunday, so we'll just ride it out. He's getting old, and won't probably be here three seasons from now anyway.

Another scenario would hold that Romo comes back but is not still 100% and rusty. The team refuses to pull him out of loyalty and they lose games because he's not all the way back.
People assume he's going to come back and play like 2014, when he hasnt played that well in a while
