$90 for physical games that are just a card with a key on it.

Yeah i forgot to add that. Absolute absurdity. I kind of feel guilty even trying to get one because Nintendo thinks they can just get away with this. I just need all the new shiny things . GTA6 will probably be $100 just for the base game.

I bet the PS6 will be $700-800 at the very least with $100 digital only games.

Switch prices are crazy but I understand what is being done. They want the consumer to actually get the 499 so it feels like it is a deal.

Imo, Nintendo is trying to ruin the used market . Why would you pay 399 or more for a used console and then pay 80 90 bucks for a game when you can buy a brand new switch with a game for 10-20 more which will come with a warranty and maybe some financing from the store that you bought it from (if you can find one when after release)?

Don’t blame the industry for the high game prices. The industry sees that we are willing to pay $100 for a special edition plus “coins”. Those days of buying the game just to play the game are gone. Won’t be surprised if Mario Kart becomes a pay to win game after release.

Going to get worse. Forbes analysts are now predicting the price to go up to $530 just for the console itself. This is going to be the craziest launch ever, for those who want and can afford it.

People could buy a decent gaming PC for the same price including taxes and games. But also not for long with our current "situation". I think i might tap out if it hits $600. That's even if I get my invite or another preorder from who knows where or when haha

Downloaded South of Midnight on Game Pass and gave it a whirl today.

So far, I'm enjoying it. I love the art style, the environment, and the puzzling/platforming elements. The story, rooted in Southern lore, is interesting and the linear play is a nice change of pace from the usual 1,000-hour open-world sandbox games.

One downside, for me, is that the combat mechanics could be more engaging. So far, it does tend to get a bit repetitive.

I'm not going to say it's the most amazing game I've ever played, but if you're looking for something new to play or add to your gaming queue, it’s definitely worth giving a shot.

I hear ya. I want a switch 2 at some point but I ain’t paying for one at that price, especially right away. If it’s that high I’ll probably hold out until the next mainline Zelda game. I won’t be able to resist that.

Speaking of 1000 hour sandlot games, I finally hit 1k on Witcher 3 lol

Saw Avowed hit 5.9 million players in late February. So gotta be over 6 million now. Thats outstanding for Obsidian. A GOTY campaign and possible nomination could it push it to 10. Looks like Obsidian has their franchise

This is not specific to Avowed, but I've noticed lately a lot of game companies are promoting "players" rather than units sold which seems suspicious.

Some games offer free trials or "demo" versions and count players toward that.

Games are also sometimes added to game passes and they are counted as well in that "players" total.

When I just checked Avowed for example on Steam, the most Avowed Steam players ever online at one time was 19,198.

I'm not a fan of Steam and it by no means represents the total as it doesn't track console players, but it's still a decent measurement when used mainly for comparison against other Steam games.

While I never trust game media reviews because they are incentivized to give good reviews and scores to their advertisers, Metacritic has Avowed with a user score of 6.9 which is pretty good so it does appear to be a good game.

I just wish game companies were more honest about their sales like you see with the movie and tv markets.
