The way Romo handled Dez was incredible

uh oh. A Tony Romo thread.

I am just gonna stand over here... out of the way... while quietly whistling the music score from The Bridge over the River Kwai...
I know right...like here we go again.

I can't for the life of me figure out why some ...fans...are so defensive and cruelly negative when former player appreciation comes around. Undrafted walk on becomes one of the better QB's of his time...in OUR dysfunctional system? What's not to appreciate? It was him and him only that ruined our dreams?

"but...cabo and hats!" Weirdos.

Best just to do a slow rubber neck drive by.

Congrats. You are the first poster in the thread to mention Cabo.

So are those dropped passes Romo's fault? Because it seems like he's the one getting all the blame
I dont think so. But this is my problem with Romo…he never took his game to another level in the playoffs. It was either w bad performance or a decent performance. The Giants game I wouldn’t say Romo played bad. But we needed him to be better than he was.

Nobody said a thing about cabo lol…just rambling again.

And he would have "been better", without the dropped balls. It really doesn't matter how well a QB plays, if his receivers are dropping crucial passes.

We saw a similar playoff game, when Dak was playing well, but nearly everyone else was crap. I don't remember who they were playing against, maybe 49ers? Dak got a lot of unfair blame for that one, even though the rest of the team gave him no chance to win.

He didn’t have a great arm. He had deep throws float on him resulting in picks. His completion percentage was lower than Dak’s and he struggled in big games just like Dak has. It’s been the same thing with both QBs. Neither Dak or Romo had a defense. Romo had two great teams in 07 and 2014. Demarco Murray set a franchise record for rushing in 2014. We had a terrific OL that season and still couldn’t get past the divisional round. The 07 team that set a franchise record with 13 wins and 13 Pro Bowlers and went one and done.
Demarco Murray also gave GB free points instead making directly for the TD.

Momentum shift.

You trying so hard to make Romo look bad...is pathetic.

(Sorry @DallasEast!...I couldn't help myself.

It’s pretty funny how so many fans still yearn for the days of a QB who was 2-7 in playoff/elimination games and is best remembered for a bobbled snap that helped cost the Cowboys a playoff game. Those Romo years were wonderful.

Right...."in this thread". It's been said a million times....but NOW is a line in the sand. And the most preposterous comment too I guess?
Dude.

It is nonsense when a Tony Romo detractor mentions Cabo. Cabo had nothing to do with the Dallas Cowboys loss in the 2007 NFC Divisional Round game. It has been literal nonsense every day since then. It will continue to be literal nonsense into perpetuity.

So. Why were you the first to mention it? Are you a Romo detractor? I would have said you were not before you mentioned in this thread.

Anyone who thinks the Romo years were something special must have been intoxicated every Sunday. The Cowboys won fewer division titles with Romo than with Dak and they missed the playoffs 4 straight years from 2010 to 2013 with Romo. The Cowboys never missed the playoffs more than 2 straight years with Dak. The Cowboys went 3 straight years without a winning season with Romo. The bottom line it hasn’t been great with either QB but for some to act like it was so much better with Romo is laughable.

hey i guess you dak bots are getting kind of desperate

The last 29 years have been so frustrating some fans still miss a QB who had a fat thread dedicated to him every offseason. lol All we heard every offseason was how fat Romo was and that all he cares about is Twinkies and golf.

Romo was 0-1 in the playoffs with a 13 win team that had 13 Pro Bowlers. Not even Aikman had a 13 win team with that many Pro Bowlers. You fans who act like Romo didn’t have any good teams are being ridiculous. You don’t make it to the playoffs if you don’t have some great players around your QB. Romo had some great players around him.
Now do first team all-pro with that same roster…. Like the 3 on OL alone that Dak had in 2016.

Any fan can vote for pro-bowl, and multiple times at that…

The best team the Cowboys had since their last SB win was the 07 team. Even Aikman said that was the best Cowboys team he’s seen since his great teams. Stop with the excuses.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t cut it…

if what you say is true, those 13 pro-bowlers should have been all-pro.

Fans vote pro-bowl and do it multiple times if they want. Marion Barber didn’t even start and he was a pro-bowler.

Bradie James as a pro-bowler wasn’t anywhere in the same planet as first team all-pro Sean Lee in 2016.

The Pro Bowl voting has been the same for many years and 13 players in the Pro Bowl was an NFL record. Despite some being replacements. The Cowboys had more Pro Bowlers in 07 than the two SB teams combined that season. That 07 team going one and done to a Giants team they beat twice that season was the ultimate failure for any Cowboys team. That was a legit SB caliber team that didn’t even get past the wildcard round.

Just keep looking for ways to downplay how good the 07 team was to prop Romo and crap on Dak. The 2016 team was 4-12 the previous season and 9-7 in 2017. The 2016 team was a fluke because of how well Dak and Zeke played. We had two rookies who caught everyone by surprise and it elevated the team that season.

The Dak vs Romo thing and frankly it's staying power just underscores how easy Cowboys fans are to divide.

I don't think about it though for the most part until one of these threads pops up. Wonder who is wagging what.

coaching and key injuries; losing TO for all intents and purposes forced reliance on Clayton who spit the bit when it counted. Sadly unless TO had been near ready for the SB we would have lost there.
The Defense did the job it was supposed to do but not quite good enough to make up for the sputtering offense

and only a total football fool would under rate the Giants defense that year. They shut down the greatest offense in the history of the NFL in the SB
those kinds of facts you dat bots and romo haters like to ignore

Even without the dropped balls it’s a subpar performance like most of his performances in the playoffs.

Same goes for Dak. Whether he plays well or not if the offense is subpar he gets the blame for it. It’s just how it goes.

To win a ring you need everyone to play well. So Romo doesn’t deserve all blame. But he certainly could’ve done more to win.
