I remember the anxiety of watching him, the first 3 or 4 years. Then, the feeling was more of wishing they'd give him a center who didn't snap the ball over his head, an O-line that didn't want him killed, and a coach who didn't act like we could just impose our will on the other team, like we could when Emmitt was running the ball.

There were holes on Romo’s teams just like there’s been holes with Dak’s teams. It’s never going to be perfect. Both had some real good teams that faltered in the playoffs. The defense sucked in the playoffs with both QBs. Too much of the load was put on both QBs and they cracked in the playoffs.

Why do you care if people have fond memories of him? If nothing else, he was fun to watch, which is more ..much more...than I can say about Dak. Romo took his teams farther than they ever should have gone, and that, again, is more than you can ever say about Dak.

Hate the turn over prone gun slinger(romo), hate the ball protecting passer(dak)

No one cares about how good teams are in the playoffs, especially defenses, Orlando how hard it is to be mistake free as a QB in this league.

Instead, just hate on any and every QB not making rookie contract money.

Sad, really.

Running QBs are taking over now. So glad, shut the non stop haters up when they can't complain about passers because they are running for easy yards.

Josh Allen and mahomes are the only proven playoff gamers playing currently. Burrows might be, but not enough playoff games and doesn't run. Rogers is extremely good still, imo...and can really break a defense down if giving time in pocket. I just think things are getting tough for QBs based on message board standards for QBs...and passing QBs can't meet the fan standards...running QBs are winning games....less ball in the air should mean less turnovers and more easy first downs in playoff.

Can't wait to see the boards reaction when dual threat QBs takeover and agents start asking for 30% of cap at signing because the player is running and throwing for more than 30% of total plays, and near 75% of offensive snaps. I'm here for the meltdown.

The Cowboys had no business winning 13 games while setting a franchise record with 11 straight wins with a rookie QB. We only had three double digit win seasons in Romo’s 10 years as the starter. We’ve had five double digit win seasons with Dak in 9 years. We made the playoffs three straight seasons with him. We never did that with Romo. Those who think we had it better with Romo are wrong.

Not true. Romo had two great lines including one that allowed Murray to run for 1800 yards. You guys revise history so quick on this site. Romo had some bad lines early 2010’s. The Nate Livings era. But let’s not pretend like he didn’t have a formidable line either with those Columbo, Gurode, Davis lines or the 2014 line with Leary, Frederick’s, Tyron…..that 2014 line was arguably our best line in 20 years….

I loved watching Romo.

But...to this threads main point...maybe if Romo was a leader and was more invested in his locker room the team wouldn't have rallied around Dak so fast.

All I remember is reports that Romo wasn't the Brady type. If I remember correctly, there was an issue with players claiming he and Witten would room together and draw up their own plays against what the coach called, taking passes away from other receivers. Yes, that's only example, but I clearly recall murmuring over the Romo tenure of him not being that locker room leader.

I don't think it should be a requirement to have that trait as a QB or highest paid player. As Barkley perfectly shut up the haters after being caught with a prostitute "I'm not a role model"

Of 50 plus players suiting up, there is always someone willing to be the hype man...if not a variety of different guys week in and week out. Maybe even Romo some weeks.

I’ve repeatedly said I’m not putting it all on Romo. Does this sound like I’m putting it all on him? Our failures in the playoffs haven’t been been entirely on either QB.

He wasn’t broken in 2007, 2009 and 2014. Those were real good teams. The 09 team beat the 13-0 Saints on the road and finished with back to back shutouts. We dominated Philly in the playoffs.

Romo was NOT a true leader...this is undeniable. He himself said that he started to lead...like year 8 or 9. Give me a break. And then when a rookie took the team from him, he desperately and uncharacteristically planned a party for the team. Romo had better arm talent...that's true. But leader? NO.
