It appears that this loss is stinging more than most, so I thought I'd post how I've been coping... I visit the board a dozen times a day and enjoy the site very much.
To me in football there is only so much karma, and for every lucky bounce you get, you'll give one away eventually. Many may think we lost this game but we won a game against the skins or the 49ers that we didn't really deserve so we are even. While I wouldn't argue with that I think the karma aspect is a bit deeper in this game. You certainly have the bobby carpenter angle which has been discussed in great detail. Makes me wonder what other ex-players we will face this year. Who sees the Cowboys playing the Bears in the wild card to see Roy Williams with an 80 yard catch and run, getting forced out at the 2 only to have MBIII pound it in as time winds down...could happen and would hurt much more than this loss does.
However, I think this game was payback for the 2007 game we basically stole from the Lions. They had the game won and I forget the details but we miraculously came back and won the game in the closing minutes on TD pass to Witten. That was a team that desperately needed a win, not for the standings but the franchise. Sure the boys were in need of win to get, what in the end was a moot home field advantage, but the Lions needed it more than we did and for all intensive purposes we stole it. Payback came yesterday and it came big.
So while all of these vagabond players keep burning our team when we play them and all of these things seem to not go our way, I fully believe it will be our turn again. I fully believe this team can beat any team in the league and lose to any team in the league. It's one of the reasons, I remain so excited about this franchise, the team it's put on the field, and the remaining 12 games on it's schedule.
Finally, as I was flying back from the game this morning I was thinking how exhausting this short season has been for us as fans and surely for the team - 4 straight nail biters. But lets not forget this is what we were all begging for last spring and summer during the lockout. Tony's not going to complete every pass, Demarcus is going to get held without it getting called and multiple other things are not going to go our way, but in the end that's the way we should want it. The posts on this board would be very boring if they did.
I enjoy reading everyone's stuff so keep it up. Go Cowboys!
