Far be it for me to allow myself to get any hopes up with this team. But from time to time, some positive thoughts come to me and I quickly crush them and remember 20+ years of futility. Just to give myself a break from reality and try on one of the Homer hats that so many wear around here for one minute...What if these 7 things actually happen this year, how good could this defense be?

1- What if, Randy Gregory really comes back and is the speed rusher on the right side we haven't had since the last 94?
2- What if Jaylon Smith, who hasn't been wearing that brace, returns to Jaylon Smith of 2015?
3- What if LVE really is the next Luke Kuechly as Mayock compared him to?
4- What if they sign McClain and he plays as he did in 2016?
5- What if Lee stays healthy?
6- What if they pull the trigger on the ET phone home trade?
7- What if 90 and 95 play at the same level they did in 17?

That front 7 would be loaded "on paper" and that secondary who seemed to improve every week last year would get an all pro leader added to it...

OK, enough of that. I feel dirty. Let me start with the first reply, "What if" If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle...

Well I can't speak for your auntie with a sack but if all pans out on your list then all it comes down to is consistency.

And if that happens we see a deep playoff run we haven't seen in a while.

What if we had a different coaching staff
what if JJ and SJ decided to stop coaching
what if JJ and SJ weren't allowed to attend the coaches meetings

If all of this happened it wouldn't be the cowboys...lol

If it's the what if game why not change number's
#4 Richard Ash has a great season:thumbup:
#6 Xavier Woods plays at the Pro Bowl level:thumbup:
I'm not afraid to get excited about the season or this team:thumbup:

Ok, now you are taking the fairy tale to an unrealistic level! But we can dream!

if he bought the chargers, we'd probably be SB champs.
I see the Cowboys football team doing a lot better without Jones family interference
Jones has 3 titles in 4 years. I highly doubt Cuban would come in and produce like that. Maybe he does win a few Superbowls but I'm willing to bet he doesn't win 3 in 4 years as it hasn't happened very often.

you had me until ET came up again, get over it, to old and too costly.. just bring in Boston reid or Vacarro still it would be nice if half that list happens..

i say 0. love Landry, but he was done. without Jerry, we don't get Jimmy.

True. But bringing in Jimmy is the only credit Jerry deserves for the 3 rings. Once he decided he needed to be more involved, it's been a quarter century of mediocrity.

He just turned 29. He's not 40. Give me 3 years of pro bowl play over 5-6 years of JAG play.

so back to the original question. once he bought the cowboys, he hired jimmy, we get 3 SB's. without him buying the team, we don't get jimmy, thus no SB's. so maybe we have 29 years of medioricty, kind of what we had from 1985-1989 with Landry.

we don't win 3 SB's in the 90's
It’s an unknown. And it probably increases our chances of more success since.

Apparently many fans are content with sacraficing the integrity and respect of our football operations for decades to follow for the early success?
