So maybe if someone knows they can answer this.
Was this story/movie loosely based on Jake "the snake" Roberts?
I ask this because i seen some kind of documentary last year or the year before with him in it and in one of the ads I seen for the movie the wrestler was talking to his daughter or someone like he was trying to mend fences with her. There was a moment in the documentary I seen where Jake was doing just that after not seeing his daughter for years.
Like I said, I have only seen a couple of ads for the movie and don't know much about so that is why I am asking.
Kilyin;2595478 said:I don't think so. Any similarities are probably coincidental. I think you could say it's loosely based on any professional wrestler and the impact the lifestyle has on their personal and family lives.
It's basically about a guy who is willing to pay any price to do the only thing he loves to do.

Like I said I don't know enough or seen enough about the movie.
However that documentary I seen with Jake in it was pretty interesting. From being on top to going down the tubes due to drugs and him still going out and wrestling even though he is in such bad shape and so on.
I had not even heard about the Wrestler movie until they started talking about Rourke possibly getting the Golden Globe awards. So I take it that the movie must not have had a big budget for advertisements or something.

Must confess that I liked The English Patient, although the book was better. Now Crash winning, that was unpardonable.trickblue;2596773 said:I haven't seen it but it doesn't surprise me... it's just a popularity thing...
How could The English Patient EVER win best picture... what a terrible movie... unless you are J. Peterman...
