Just trying to figure out how much churn was generated last camp around his contract demands

Was the highest paid when he signed the deal?

Was he surpassed fairly quickly?

Was he a holdout until his contract got re-worked?

Was his contract demands negotiated through the media?

.

Was able to find some answers to my question.
His holdout lasted 3 weeks. The impasse was broke when he had a face to face meeting with Jerry Jones prior to a preseason game
He went from 8th highest paid guard to the 3rd highest paid guard.
His guarantees for 2023 and 2024 went from 27.5m to 36m.
Still not sure how long into his deal did the market reset and how many years did he play underpaid before he held out
Still not sure if it drug out via the media (were the Jones asked about it daily)
Still not sure what if any impact his holdout had on his performance or the woeful running game last year

Martin's contract affects this element...

Going into year two of Mike McCarthy's offensive system, Hoffman's background as a son of a college coach and the knowledge of the game that it comes with has paid off. For him, it's about perfecting it in order to be as prepared as possible for his Pro Bowl quarterback.

are you saying that Dallas is going to need to avoid getting in a situation where we pay Guards "insane" money. Even if that Guard is All-pro.....is the difference between an All-Pro guard and an above average Guard worth paying someone 20m a year vs a 2nd round rookie

If that is what you are saying...then I think you are on to something.

You have no clue here...

Pointed out were strengths on the interior of the line forging together and team strength being strengthened. They are together NOW! Team status for salary cap is already managed for the current management.

I was not happy about the Zach Martin holdout last year because when he signed his deal he was the top paid at his position. Then the market went up and he wanted to be paid again. I feel that’s BS. Dallas gave him his respect and money. He should have honored the deal. To me this is a microcosm of what’s important in Dallas. Martin signs for the highest at his position at the time and then wants to be redone as the market fluctuates. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really wish our players competed for Super Bowls as much as they compete for salary.

He feels he had a bad year because he held out, Lamb will probably have the same story

I think such worry about a contract is the most idiotic asinine stupid thing to worry about.

For those who are trying to draw parallels I think it comes down to how differently the two situations are being handled by fans.

Martin = pay the man his money!
CeeDee = typical, selfish, modern player!

There’s a double standard, but that’s nothing new.
Two different reasons for holding out as well.

Martin wants more money than was agreed to. A restructure of his existing contract.

Lamb wants an extension to his current contract. Not more money in his current contract.

Yeah I can't be upset with a guy for wanting his worth. Its not a "Cowboys issue" or an issue at all. You put your brain and body on the line for what? For the love of the game? No. These guys play a very tough and physical sport and at the end of the day Jerry makes billions off this product. Martin has been his whole career and never complained despite the questionable moves from up top.

But Martin outperformed that contract and asked for another one.

Its funny that if Martin didn't outperform his contract they would've cut him and no one would blame this front office. But when the opposite happens and a guy outperforms his contract he's in the wrong for asking for money and vilified.
