Let me start by saying I think Ezekiel Elliott is a great player. But.....

If I’m Jerry or Stephen or whoever you want to believe is calling the shots I wouldn’t budge on Elliot as far as contract goes. I’d offer a fair salary much like demarco Murray was offered and if he wants to sit out then let him sit out.

I’d love to have him. But only for a decent price. The difference in him and another JAG RB is very small at best. Think Denver in the late 90’s with TD and others and they never skipped a beat.

And personally I’m just sick of his BS. The domestic case (which I think was BS) the going to Mexico while suspended. The going to Cabo now. The security guard incident. I’m just freaking over it man. Cut bait. Trade him whatever. He has some huge balls holding out when he’s such a liability off the field.

If I’m GM for a day I’d offer a 4 yr 20-25 million and if he don’t want that then I’d start looking for trade partners. If we suck this year then so be it. Draft a stud RB next year. One with some great character. And not one who makes questionable decisions and seems like a very unapproachable personality

I certainly wouldn't be handing out Gurley money since that isn't exactly working out. A huge workload will hit Zeke at some point. Now this offense has a lot of talent. Doesn't have to center around the RB.

I'm glad you're not our GM. Stud players get treated differently and paid well. Jerry will put up with his BS because he is a stud, just like Jimmy used too.

Hmmm....
Those 2 statements don’t quite make sense together

If the difference between Zeke and any JAG RB is minimal, why would we suck?

The drop off between Zeke and some jag will be minimal if the Cowboys stay committed to the run week in week out.

What are you using as reference, the drop off between Murray and McFadden, or perhaps Emmitt Smith And Derrick Lassick?

Murray was offered well below market value, and the Cowboys knew that. They knew the offer was a stab in the dark that likely wouldn't stick. I don't say that to suggest they should give Zeke whatever he wants. They shouldn't. But they will have to come at him a little stronger than they did Murray.

I do understand the sentiment about his off field behavior. I guess for me the bottom line is do we think there is a reasonable chance he gets his off field stuff together, and if we have any chance at a suitable replacement. In the end, I would love to tell the guy to take a hike, but I don't see anything but a huge drop off at RB if we do, plus I still have a feeling that while he is a bonehead, he is essentially a good guy that will get his act together.

Look at the other guys we paid and look how they went about their business. Tyron, Frederick, Martin, and Tank. They went about things the right way.

Zeke is holding out with two years left on his deal. It might not be good for the organization to cave and let other guys know that this is how you get paid.

Dak Prescott, Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, and Amari Cooper are watching.

I like the guys at camp on the last year of their contract a lot more than the guy who is not there with two years left on his contract.

well if he plays out his obligations and get franchised for two years he'll make 44 million
and change so it's gonna take 50-55 mil at least to satisfy his greed.

So then he would be no more greedy than any other players. D Law was greedy right? He wanted to be paid as one of the top DL players in the NFL. I'm sure Cooper is going to be greedy and be paid as a top WR. If Zeke was playing like a JAG then I would agree he is greedy waning the pay of the top RB in the NFL but as 2016 and 2018 leading rusher kind of hard to put him in the jag category

Pro Football Focus estimates that Zeke’s production in 2018 was worth just 0.2 of a win above a replacement player

Is it possible or likely Zeke has already blown thru his millions and signing bonus?
...and this is the reason he wants a big new deal now?

RBs just don’t have any value anymore. There’s a reason RBs percentage of team salaries have dropped from 6.8 to 4.5. That’s the entire RB group on a given team.

The difference in an “elite” RB and an average RB is very very small. Zeke is elite. He is worth 0.2 more wins above replacement than an avg RB.

That’s just simply not worth sinking a huge amount of salary into a guy. If he was an emmitt smith with off the charts character, great teammate, unbelievable desire etc then maybe.... maaayyybbbbbbeeeee......

But he’s not. He has low character. Whatever excuse you wanna make for him? Go ahead. The fact remains. He was accused of domestic violence. He got in a questionable wreck. He allegedly assaulted a security guard. He parties. A LOT. He pulled a woman’s shirt up in public. It goes on and on. And he’s only been around 3 years.

It’s the same deal with Dez. I just don’t want to apologize and make excuses for another cowboy player for X number of years.

Laugh all you want. That’s what losers do. Try and justify why their teams players arent more highly graded bc they just aren’t as good.

Analytics are taking over sports. Get with the times man

You’d be more than happy if I was GM instead of the Jones knuckleheads. Trust me

Did you know that there are “stud” players that don’t carry drama with them everywhere?

There’s also great players that have great character and high high integrity. Even some on our very own team.

Dark
Cooper
Martin
TFred
Tyron
Witten
Sean Lee
Jaylon Smith

Etc etc

We don’t have to act like Zeke is something he is not. He’s a great football player. He helps our team.

He’s also a knucklehead. He also has drama follow him wherever he goes. It will always be like that with him. Just like Dez.

He plays a position that doesn’t warrant big contracts anymore. RBs don’t have the same value they once had. So paying one in these days is really stupid. When ALL the analytics show there is very little difference between elite RBs and avg RBs

Use the money to sign more valuable positions that aren’t so easily replaceable

Irvin was a lot worse than Zeke. He did ok.
