anyone have it or heard of it? i know people will say ipod is better, but for some reason i just hate it. i think it has something to do with everyone having it. so the ipod is pretty much out. the zune looks pretty cool though. plus the ipod doesnt have fm, which i like. so any reviews for the zune?

my nephew and I got on when walmart was screwing up and selling them early, The screen looks really nice and the interface is pretty slick as well. It is at least an ipod equal with a better screen. He got to keep it for x-mas and I got his ipod. I am thinking of selling the ipod and getting a zune for myself if that tells you anything. I can't stand how trendy the ipod is, same thing with my razr I hate that everyone has one too.

Good luck trying to access the Zune hard drive, Microsoft won't allow you to (IPod does). I have an 80 gig IPod video (And before that a 4 gig IPod mini) and each one allowed me to use the remaining hard drive as I saw fit, great for moving files from one PC to another, storing dvds on it, etc. Zune restricts you from doing so.

Zune is also bigger and bulkier than an IPod, I can tell you that there's no way I can wear my Ipod on my shorts unless I'm wearing a belt, can only imagine what the weight of a Zune would do. And whomever came up with purchasing music using points instead of currency needs to be kicked in the groin. 79 points to purchase a song, $.99 credit will give you 79 points???

Not saying the IPod video is perfect, I hate the fact that I can't transfer via firewire (IPod mini allowed me to), don't like ITunes (I can only imagine how much I would hate Microsoft's software), the screen is too small, picture syncing sucks (Unfortunately Zune wants to also follow this path) and I wish I could access radio, not just FM but AM or have the compatibility of satellite.

Don't get me wrong, competition = better products and better costs, but so far sales are disappointing, in fact 4 IPod products fared better in the first week release so I'm not holding my breath.

a true kick to the groin, all your music you purchased from naspstar and other media outlets wont work with the zune, only the music you have purchased from M$'s music store (and of course your CD's you purchased)

Limewire (Or other P2P, Bittorrent and Usenet) should have unrestricted mp3 formats, those will work with no problems on the IPods and I would think they would work just as well on Zune or any other player, it would be a guaranteed flop if any player won't allow mp3s (A while back Sony once claimed their mp3 player would only play their format but they quickly reversed their decision).

As far as Napster and all - not sure if they work on IPod either, only time I've used Napster was back in the day when they weren't on...shall we say, good terms with the RIAA

However I have heard that the newest WMP will not let you rip CDs to your hardrive.

Once again I just heard that they did something to stop you from ripping CDs to your hard drive and I think someone said that means even if you use another program on your computer....something about WMP installs something to some drivers that effects the ripping ability from a CD Drive.

From what I heard it was something they were doing to help boost their own MP3 sales and deals with other recording companies.

Don't have any specifics or truths but just letting you guys know what I heard, whether it be BS or not.

I love my IPOD.

I was a skeptic, but I bought a Creative piece of **** and brought it back to the store within a week. I bought the 5th gen IPOD instead, and havent looked back. Its SO easy to use, its small and light enough for a pocket in my jeans, its the pinnacle of MP3 player technology. Screw the Zune, you can get a refurbed 5th gen IPOD for less and still have a better music player.

Sounds like the Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act that Fritz Hollings tried to pass back in 2002 (Text of Act here) and I remember "Longhorn", as Vista was known, as then being talked about how it was going to clamp down on media but that never came to pass. Haven't heard anything about future media but with other operating systems out there I can't see how WMP11's clampdown would be anything but a failure. Just my opinion....

Bought a Zune and couldn't be happier. Watching movies on the bigger screen than any iPod is a plus. If the 6th Gen iPod came out at the same time, it would be a tough decision. Otherwise, so far so good. Only time will tell if it is truly a good product or one that was severely rushed.
