I'd sign off on that right now and call it an offseason.

Thanks, I know the TE and 2 WR's would drive people nuts. :laugh2:

I LOVE this mock!!! Dont like Blake at all but I'll take this draft in a heartbeat.

I do agree w the previous poster in regards to us not drafting defense earlier..not so mch bc I want to, moreso, bc that's what I think we will do

Love it. I think I would select Orson Charles, Vinny Curry, or Bruce Irvin in the 2nd but I am nit picking. Great job.

This works

I don't hate the second round TE but I do hate that second round TE.

We need someone who is a much better athlete. We can't be focused on getting someone to be a blocker at that part of the draft. You can always sign guys like this in FA for a pittance. You have to be looking for guys with huge upsides as receivers and Allen is just not good enough. Now if you put Fleener in there I'd be okay with it.

As for the NT in the 3rd, I'm just not convinced about him. I'd rather take the best CB on the board there.

I probably would have addressed OLB earlier than you did.

I still look at DeCastro as a luxury at #14. If this guy where agile and smart plus a devastating drive blocker I could see the point in drafting in OG at #14 but he isn't and so I really don't see the point. He is a good player and in a normal draft would go in the early 20s or so but this is a weak draft and we have a weak interior so everyone wants us to reach but I think it would be bad for our rebuilding program. I'd be much happier to deal with any OG needs in the 2nd or 3rd round. The issue isn't a huge one at the moment because we could play the two new guys and Killa Kowalski and have an average interior OL tomorrow. OTOH our defensive pass rush and secondary depth are atrocious. We have to focus here in the draft if we want to improve. The best scenario by far for us is a trade down to allow us to fill more needs by drafting in the middle of the draft where the depth is great at our positions of need.

RS, could you help me decide between my 2 mock draft ideas:

Mock A:
Trade down in the 1st and select the following:
1 CB Dre Kirkpatrick
2 CB Janoris Jenkins
2 CB Josh Robinson
3 CB Trumaine Johnson
4 CB Omar Bolden
5 CB Josh Norman
6 CB Asa Jackson
7 CB Cliff Harris
UDFA CB Coty Sensabaugh
UDFA CB Chris Greenwood

I'm hoping to get Minnefield with the supplemental pick and I'm really struggling with the fact that I missed out on Brandon Boykin.

Mock B:
Trade 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th to move up and select Morris Claiborne.

Nice to know that someone else is clued in to Albion's Chris Greenwood.

I agree. I'd prefer Michael Egnew or James Hannah later in the draft.

I'd probably take that CB in the 2nd, as I've said earlier in the dicussion, or later. I actually an pretty high on Ta'amu these days. You really should try going back and watching more of him, I was right there with you up until recently.

Everything I've read and seen indicates DeCastro can pass and run block. I don't think it's a luxury to solve a long running problem and give Romo some better protection. He's broken something 3 of the last 4 seasons - collar bone, hand and ribs. He's not getting any younger and there's no reason why our QB should be suffering these kinds of injuries.

Romo has always had elite skill players around him, but never elite protection. I think we've put it off long enough.

Thanks for the comments, it's a good discussion.

Round 1 Pick 14 - David DeCastro OG Stanford (6-5 316)
Positional issue is very real. No way I take him at 14. If you trade down he becomes an option for me.

Round 2 Pick 45 - Dwayne Allen TE Clemson (6-3 255)
I wouldn't ignore TE but if you give me OG R1 then TE in R2 you are fired. 45 is very high for a 2nd or 3rd TE.

Round 3 Pick 81 - Alameda Ta'amu DT Washington (6-3 348)
Will be gone. Guys this big get picked before their rating by quite a bit. If he is there I'd have no issue however,

Round 4 Pick 112 - Philip Blake C Baylor (6-2 311)
End of the interior OG guys. Not a bad player but better players in r2 and 3 we could nab. OG, TE and OC in first 4 rounds? NO!!

Round 5 Pick 143 - Jarius Wright WR Arkansas (5-10 182)
One pick I'd have 0 issue with.

Round 5 Comp - Frank Alexander OLB Oklahoma (6-4 270)
Ehhh... we can use depth at position but not sure Alexander is better than Albright.

Round 6 Pick 174 - Miles Burris ILB/OLB San Diego State (6-2 250)
ILB is pretty deep now actually. eh pick for me.

Round 7 Pick 204 - Dale Moss WR South Dakota State (6'3" 213)
If he can play ST that works.

All in all I'd really dislike this haul. Get rid of tunnel vision on offensive line and it will improve dramatically.

I agree about the tunnel vision on the interior of the offensive line.

The team has two returning draft picks from last year...

The team just signed two experienced offensive linemen...

The team has two undrafted free agents one who didn't perform well at the beginning part of the year (due to inexperience and injury) and another who performed fairly well when pressed into service.

That's six guys for 3 positions now.

I can see one interior lineman being added next month... But not two.

lol, it's Tunnel Vision now is it, boys? That's how you want to play it! You do realize it's a mock draft and not the real thing, I hope. I hope we never pass on elite talent because we already have "guys".

You don't get it.
Sure we could have signed a player for $5million per in free agency, but we decided to get two cheaper players because we are going to use our 1st and 3rd on center and guard.

I saw a trucker talking on a CB radio the other day. Pissed me off the rest of the day.

I didn't say I'd sign off on this class because there are no cornerbacks. I'm fine with taking one or even two in this draft. I just happen to like the players Count targeted and where he targeted them. They make sense and they'd really help address some serious issues with this team.

You have to update it now though, bro. Make that 5th round comp pick a 4th rounder.

People may not like the idea of taking two WRs, but if Moss is still around in the 7th after that workout, I doubt anyone would be upset with making that pick.

Love this mock if it were Cox at #14 and Zeitler or Silatou in the second.

Yes, that is overkill to say the least
