Pick 1: David DeCastro, G, Stanford
Taking two linemen in the first round in back-to-back drafts would signal a true culture change here. I'm just hoping DeCastro doesn't go higher. In my dreams, we sign Carl Nicks and STILL draft DeCastro in the 1st...then I'm randomly in front of my grade school class with no clothes on, so who knows.

Pick 2: Vinny Curry, OLB, Marshall
This pick is tough. This is usually the spot where the Cowboys throw a wrench in everyone's draft predictions. But I've found the trend! Since 2005, we have spent this pick (when we've had it) three times on linebackers and twice on TE's. So what'll it be this year, LB or TE? Let's go LB, I can't stomach another 2nd round TE.

Pick 3: Ben Jones, C, Georgia
I wanted to take Georgia Brandon Boykin here, but I'm dead set on not going into next year with anything resembling this years interior offensive line so I opt for his team mate, Ben Jones instead. I love Jones' fire and competitiveness, but even more appealing is football smarts. I don't need flash at center, I just want a smart, consistent player and Jones fits the bill. He will need to get stronger, however.

Pick 4: Ladarius Green, TE, La.-Lafayette
You're probably as sick of drafting TE's as I am, but here we are again. Bennett has shown some progress as a pass catcher as the season has worn (and worn it has) on, so there's a very good (and sensible) chance we resign him. If not, I suggest Ladarius Green who went from an oversized WR to speedy TE, quickly becoming the best player on a pretty small program. He'll have to learn the nuances, but at 6'6" 240, he could be that receiving threat some thought Bennett would be.

Pick 5: Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin
Russel is my pet cat this year. Physically, he is admittedly short for the position but that hasn't stopped guys like Brees and Vick from playing the position. It just has to be the right fit, is this that fit? I have no idea. We are still a year or two away from having to invest a high pick in Romo's replacement, why not give Wilson a shot in the meantime?

Pick 6a: Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, NT, Baylor
Former walk on that followed in the footsteps of Phil Taylor at Baylor. He's not as gifted an athlete as Taylor, but we aren't spending a first here are we? Ratliff needs some help, and Jean-Baptiste may be able to do just that. At 6'2" and 335, he's got true NT size and he's actually managed 4 sacks to show that he can get around the QB.

Pick 6b: Jerry Franklin, ILB, Arkansas
We are most likely losing two ILB's this year in Bradie and Brooking. I think there's a good chance we address depth via free agency, but it couldn't hurt to add help via the draft. Franklin is a tackling machine that has shown some ability to get to the QB (6.5 Sacks in 2010) and some ability to make the pick in coverage (5 ints in 2008 - 2009). Has a lot of experience but obviously he hasn't put it all together or he'd be going higher.

Pick 7: Jordan White, WR, Western Michigan
I think two torn ACL's will keep him in the 6th or 7th round, but obviously the kid is a gamer. Wishful thinking that we can get him in then 7th, but I'm feeling wishful. Would make an excellent slot guy for us without tons of investment.

Thoughts and comments always welcome.

DeCastro is a winner in round 1, again until something changes IMO we have to land either DeCastro or Ingram.

Love the Curry pick in Round 2. You will be hearing much more about him in the coming months.

Like Jones 10x more then Brewster so I cant complain, would of even been happy if you went with Boykin there in the 3rd.

I'm torn on Green in the 4th, I have almost put him there in my mock as well. I'm not at all impressed with his blocking and it's something Dallas TE's simply need to be able to do.

I don't really have an opinion on Wilson in the 5th. We need to go QB at some point, just not sure he would be my choice. I really like the kid but I'm falling towards the fool with his measurements.

Rounds 6 and 7 are a crap shoot, value always falls so who know. I do really like the Franklin pick. ILB depth needs addressed and the kid has skills that make it great value at that point in the draft.

Love the first two picks...especially Curry :D

I would say that I seen no DBs in the draft and that worries me unless we address that in FA.

I would also think that if we took a WR that they would have to have some return skills for ST.

Also if we can't get a QB that the team really likes in the first round or two, I think we might be better off looking for a small school prospect in the later rounds.

But...with those first two picks and throwing in Jones at C...I would consider that a pretty good draft.

I would also not be opposed to taking a RB in the later rounds. When it seems like Felix can not make it through a full season without getting dinged, it might be wise to invest in another RB.

So no CB, this team will have to get a day one ready CB. I like DeCastro as much as everyone else but I don't see it happening for two reasons.
1. I think he will be gone before we pick, and 2. because he I think Jerry and company will value a OLB or CB more in round 1.

Curry is a beast....just dominant.

Decastro seems to be everyone around here's dream. I'd love to sse it happen.

Can't say I have major issues with the rest either.

I seen Curry only once - did not impress me at all

a slower verision of Spencer

Don Barclay, OT, West Virginia
Height: 6-4. Weight: 305.
Projected 40 Time: 5.16.
Projected Round (2012): 3-5

Barclay had a quality performance against Marshall's standout pass rusher Vinny Curry. Barclay allowed some pressure, but did not give up a sack.

then get Barcley also

wouldn't it be

but I don't expect it

Let's check back in, in a year or two.
But I guess Spencer was a 1st rounder.

As for picking quality Olineman, I cannot disagree with that.

Russell Wilson == Troy Smith (Ohio State) starter kit (great College QB but too short to be any good in the pros)

Would rather get Cousins - Mich St. or Nick Foles - Az.

Also ... we dont draft DBs well anyway ... so just go buy some in Free Agency.

There are CB's to be had via free agency, especially if we have Jenkins as our #1 and Oscan gives us flex at 2 or 3.

I don't like the R.Wilson pick. Gimme a CB, with the sign of Nick, and this mock draft will be awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:starspin:starspin:starspin

Are you suggesting that good pass rushers have never been held in check except by 1st round offensive linemen?

Thanks for the comments man. I'm not a big fan of Brewster either, just think he's too tall, for starters. Which is funny since I like Wilson and he's basically too short.

I like Boykin as well, as I mentioned. I've got to stick to my philosophy that it all starts inside though, not at the skill positions, so in this instance I gave up the sizzle for the steak. If it were the other way around, I wouldn't complain much though.

love the first three picks but I will be suprise if Decastro lasts to when we pick. If we could land him and Jones I would be a very happy person. DeCastro is my #1 choice.

Aaron Corp, Richmond.

Pick 6a: Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, NT, Baylor

will be lucky to play for a Areana team

DeCastro in round 1, trade back into round 1 and take Minnifield at CB.

well if you count Count

24 Dez
55 Lee

but I am talking about making a trade like we did in 08 to get Jenkins an Felix

we traded with Seattle

Dallas took Felix Jones at 22 and Jenkins at No. 25, moving up three spots by sending two late-round picks to Seattle
