I've tried to deny it, but word is starting to creep up that Ellis won't make it out of the second round. I've been very vocal on how much I like Ellis as a prospect, while acknowledging his limitations and his past character issues.
Whether he's truely matured or not is beyond me, I don't know the guy personally. I'd like to think he has.
In this mock I have us trading back with the Raiders, who want our #40 pick to take Colin Kaepernick before the Commanders at #41. So the Crypt Keeper calls up his good buddy Jerry Jones, and after a few minutes of lip smacking and ghoulish groans, a deal is worked out.
The Raiders get #40, we get #48, #113 and #181. Not a bad haul.
Now to the point, here the mock:
9. Tyron Smith, OT
Needs some polish, but there's plenty of time for that.
48. Kenrick Ellis, NT/DE
I know a lot of people will disagree with taking him this high, but there aren't a ton of guys this size with this kind of athleticism.
71. Will Rackley, G
Cowboys like him a lot, most of us do too.
110. John Moffitt, OG
Yup, a 2nd OG, and both of them have starter potential.
113. Jalil Brown, CB
Tall, physical corner that loves to hit but won't give us the luxury of cutting Newman this year.
143. Deunta Williams, FS
This shouldn't stop us from signing Huff.
176. Henry Hynoski, FB
Apparently the Cowboys thought of taking John Conner in the 4th last year.
181. Shiloh Keo, SS
I love Keo, this guy will bust his butt on special teams to stay active on game day.
220. Aldrick Robinson, WR
Speedster that can stretch the field, played against lower level of competition though.
252. Allen Bradford, HB
Battering ram that was productive when healthy, new short yardage back.
Comments welcome, of course.
