I read a lot more than I post.. so I know whom everyone is.

I know that you like the Jones clan.. maybe you are a family friend.. its surprising to me that any fan would like what they have done to this once proud franchise.

After his ridiculing fans with the.. so called drought.. (air quotes) comment, I never want to listen to the guy again.

I used to hang on to the thought.. Ive just got to outlive Jerry.. now it appears Ive got to outlive this fool as well.

By that time I will be sitting in the corner of a retirement home dribbling soup on myself.

So to answer your question.. I have a problem with everything he says.. he should just sthu.

Unless Jerry stipulates against it in his will, I think they sell when he passes

So he can say they are stepping down as GM and COO or whatever and turning it over th a real GM. You would have a problem with that?
You did say you have a problem with everything he says.

I don't have a problem with anything he said either.
Though he did use generic answers about a few things. So I see where some fans will have an issue. But possibly more because they just do not like Stephen and the FO in general.

Agreed I actively avoid listening to anything he says. I can't stand him. Or Jerry

If this was Stephen’s typical media appearance I doubt fans would be as harsh on him. A little vague at times but I’d rather him be vague than say something stupid. Honestly he was even very likable in this video.

Just a few takeaways:

1) we didn’t really learn much about the cowboys thoughts on contract extensions. Very generic answers that will make the media relations team happy

2) Stephen really isn’t happy with diggs

3) seems to be some truth to the Blue being lazy rumors, although possibly overblown.

4) I’m jumping to conclusions prematurely here but it almost feels like the Bland extension talks are happening and being leaked as a “see we are open to negotiations early” talking point for the cowboys.

I usually try not to listen too much, but will at times.
I decided to listen this time. The entire 21 minutes was listenable.
Mostly generic, straight decent questions and answers. Nothing news break worth.

Stephen siad, sometimes thew players are one to negotiate and get a deal done. Some them want to wait.
As it is an individual and personal type thing. Maybe a player thinks it is time, and wants to get it done. Take care of their family and security of it. Now I am saying this in my own words. But that is the basics of it.

"We make a decision that we want to go internally vs externally, that's a, that's a decision we have to make."

That's not a decision they have to make. That's a decision they choose to make. It's not an either or. That's their house rules. That's not what every other team does. The Eagles, 49ers, Rams, Ravens, none of them do that.

The other place I disagree is when he said there is nothing to see here right from the beginning of the video. When asked about a pattern. He can deny this a dozen times until he's blue in the face, but there is a clear pattern of dragging out star player contracts. One right after the other. If I'm leaking on your leg and telling you it's raining, am I right? Just because I deny it? Everybody can see it. Except for some in here, obviously.

"I don't think there's very many teams out there that are one player away"

He's right. But that's a defeatist statement. Get the players you need to win regardless of how many players away you are. There's also not very many teams that go out of their way to win a championship, and the Cowboys are one of them.

BTW, this was within the first 4 minutes.

The Diggs issue, I'm not going to get on him for that. That's a contract issue. But I understand why Diggs chose not to be at the Star. The Cowboys doctor doesn't have the best reputation. Diggs made a business decision. I'm not blaming Jones for that.

But besides that, he was pretty good!!!!

Interesting that Broaddus (in typical Broaddus fashion to try and elicit the answer that proves him right) at 14:30 basically handed him a 'no we never saw any signs of laziness with Blue' question, but his answer was kind of interesting and could be interpreted as perhaps there were some issues there. I say interpreted because he clearly doesn't say anything negative and is just very vague and speaks of players in general but 99.9% of the time even if untrue they say something like he is working hard and we are happy with how he is working and we haven't seen any sign of laziness and don't know where that came from, etc...Not saying it proves he is lazy just that it certainly didn't kill the "rumor"

Actually, a person can't make stipulations like that in a will.
Not to derail the thread: unless Texas has different laws on this, yes, you can do that with a business. But it is much more complicated than just leaving them the team in his will. Regardless though, why would he do this? Jerry will never sell and I'm sure he would prefer the team stay in his family as his legacy, but I doubt he cares enough to attempt something like this. I'm sure all of the heirs know that Stephen would be the one running the team into the ground like Jerry did, so there wouldn't be a power struggle that would force a sale and he might even leave Stephen 51% for all we know to make sure of it. It's not like he doesn't have a lot of other assets to make it "fair" to all of them. Why the heck am I talking about Jerry's will

17:11"Not a team that waits". What the real issue is that they think playing mental attrition games with these players and agents somehow benefits the team or helps establish some kind of amazing reputation that they are going to grill them and press them into making deals the 'Jones' way. Nobody is scared of or takes the Jones' seriously in negotiations. NO ONE. They laugh when they see how disastrous these contracts have been all in huge favor to the agents and players.

The Jones look like complete idiots giving Elliott that contract or Dak, or Diggs, or even a small move like Martin when he was one foot in retirement and they were shaking in their boots about we can't live without Martin he is the only one who can play RG. Other teams would have laughed and either cut/traded, or let these contracts expire without giving them anything.(I still shake my head they tried to give Gregory that contract).

This has been an awful row of poor thinking and even worse execution of basic knowing outcomes do not favor the team or the general understanding why the players get that massive payout and then check out mentally because they always knew the FO were pushovers.

That this really stood out to me as well, and I think gave the rumor some validity. Granted I tend to think there is a good chance that its not something to hit the panic button on yet and could simply be a situation of a young kid going from college to a pro level environment. It's still something to monitor and not dismiss if we get additional reports on the issue or see some warning signs.
