Yes sir, strength in numbers. Dallas has added talent to this secondary along with some good depth. This is a versatile unit .

But there are 5 starting position in the secondary. Even including kickers/punters that’s 5 out of 24 starting positions which is roughly 21%. Depth DBs often play a heavy special teams roll as well.

I’m not sure what the rest of the league looks like but my guess is it’s pretty comparable to the cowboys in terms of quantity.

What percentage of nickel D do we play? If you average 5 on the field a lot of the time then that is 23% of your starting lineup with offense and defense combined. So 17% IMO is a low to reseonable number given those stats of players on the field.

This is good news but if you improve the line, the secondary improves some by default. Fortunately they're addressing the line too. Consistent pressure, obviously, makes the job of the secondary easier. Stopping the run more helps too. What we're seeing is a defense revamp and it's not just the secondary, but I like seeing them take the secondary so seriously.

I think we reshaped the safety room pretty well with the additions of Thompson, Locke and Downs. That means three of our five safeties (maybe six) will be new, including the top two.

I'm a little more concerned about corner, where we are probably going to have the same two starters who failed for part of last year. Now, maybe Bland can get back to form coming off his second foot surgery and maybe Revel can live up to his draft hype a year removed from his surgery. I do like getting Durant as a depth guy, especially if we need him to step in for either Bland or Revel. Kendrick fits in more with what we already had in players like Steward, etc., but does bring more experience, and who knows on the fourth-rounder (Moore)..

Part of what should help with the corner group, though, is that both Downs and Thompson can play slot, and Downs most likely will.

Probably, but the Dallas secondary has who left over from last year? Not many.

It’s going to be interesting, and fun to watch, how Parker fits his scheme to the players ending up making the team. Everything is going to be new so they’ll probably struggle early on. How long the take to catch on and thrive is going to be a testament to the coaching. So we’ll see what Parkers made up pretty quickly. I’m hopeful as I’ve like everything he’s said and done so far.
