Williams is just a weapons charge and weed right? Texas is open carry now so not a concern and weed isn't a concern to me either, most college players smoke it, my guess is a ton of NFL players do too and as long as he doesn't end up in the drug program in the NFL early on he'll be fine.

All that said I really want peppers

Some people claim that he failed multiple drugs tests, but I can't find any credible report to confirm it. The rumors seems to all link back to WalterFootball. Only the teams will really know the true details. We fans are not privy to all information.

If the one incident is his only issue, then I wouldn't worry about it; however, if that is the only issue, then he might be gone by #28.

Great comments. It is nice hearing other opinions.

Tim Williams - Yes he is not the best run defender around and as I originally noted he has off the field issues but we need pass rushers and he is by far the best pass rusher that has a possibility of being there at 28. Will he be? I doubt it. We are not the only team looking for pass rushers and other teams haven't been burned as many times on off the field issues as we have.

Peppers - Hasn't played much safety in college. Apparently thinks he is a LB. Yes he has a LB mentality but weighs 205. He will be a safety and the team that gets him will be very happy. IMO

Humphrey - out of the 5 players I mentioned he has the least chance of being there at 28. He still has some things to work on but has all the tools to end up being a top notch CB in this league. He is the one I most hope drops to 28 but I doubt it.

Ross - only 5-11 but unlike most 4.2 receivers has more to his game than just blazing speed. He can catch and he can run routes. I personally don't want to draft a WR in the 1st but I could definitely see a scenario where he is the best player available at a position of need when we are on the clock.

Njoku - This is the one I most hope we pass on but I could look back in a couple of years and think damn we should have grabbed him if the chance arises. I just think we have bigger needs and with Witten still playing I don't want to draft a TE with a premium pick.

The one I most want to have is Humphrey
The one I believe has the best chance of being there at 28 is Ross
The one I believe we could end up regretting most not taking is Williams if available.
The one I believe we could regret the most by taking is also Williams.
The one I most believe could end up being the pick is Peppers.
The one I most believe could be there but we pass on and look back on it in a few years and realize we missed a great opportunity is Njoku.

The one I most believe should be there at 28 is none of the above. I think they are all elite athletes that should be taken well before 28.

Gregory was in the drug program from the jump, Williams is yet to be seen. Fail at the combine sure take him off the board, otherwise i'm not punishing him for something at least 70% of NFL players already do
How did you arrive at that 70% number ?

Agree with all, although I'm not a huge fan of Tim Williams' off field issues... I'd add Sidney Jones, Taco Charlton, and Malik McDowell to this list.

If Noah Spence was not the Cowboys board last year as Broddaus claimed, Williams won't be either.

Plenty of recently retired players have given their estimates, 70 percent is fairly conservative from those
I've heard 70-80% numerous times from all sorts of people close to the NFL. It's enough for me to believe it.

Peppers is apparently testing with the LBs.

Pretty bizarre move. Some speculation is that he knows he'll struggle in coverage drills with the DBs so he's going to test as a LB. Others suggesting it's ploy by his agent because some teams have targeted him as a hybrid like a Shaq Thompson or Deone Bucannon and he's showing off for them.

Still surprising.
I think it most likely is he feels he will struggle. He weighs 200 lbs so he has no shot at playing LB regardless of how good he does in drills.

It's not like it really matters either because these teams that are interested in him are going to want to see DB drills at his pro day and workouts. Avoiding it only delays them seeing it. Though I suppose it could give him a few extra weeks to get better, which might be his plan.

He is closer to being a RB or WR than a LB. He looked really good when he played offense.

The fact that he didn't think to get better in college tells me he's an idiot.

The Gregory experience will take Williams right off our board for the first round.

It's a shame too, I think he's a different type of risk than Gregory and more likely to pan out. But we really can't justify it

4. John Ross III WR - Blazing speed and electric with the ball in his hands. Can blow the top off the defense and would create nightmares for opposing DC's. Would make every other offensive weapon we have that much better. Every time he touches the ball he is a threat to take it all the way.

I don't know if Ross is the right guy but I've been wanting that kind of weapon added to our offense for years.
