We have heard/read from many fans about Dak and/or Parsons's postseason awards. To be honest, I read this a few years ago but never paid much attention to it. For some reason, some fans have asked what POSTSEASON awards they have won vs regular season accomplishments. As you can see there are NO individual awards for postseasons ACCEPT Super Bowl MVP.

Why Are the Playoffs Not Counted for NFL Awards? Inside League’s Rules for 2024 NFL Honors

The 2024 NFL Honors features awards voted on from just the 2023 regular season. Why aren't the playoffs included in the process?

The NFL only counts regular season performances and stats in the voting for these awards, none from the playoffs. A major reason for this is simply the fact that not every team makes the playoffs, inherently giving some players an advantage over others if they include the postseason.

Super Bowl is an award. It’s a team accomplishment. It’s the only one anyone in here cares about.

Also there are not very many playoff games in the NFL as opposed to the other major sports where there are best of 5 and best of 7 multiple series.

These kinds of posts don't understand the award process

Where did he finish in the post season?

I question why these awards are not done AFTER the season; so that a players entire body of work for the season as a whole is taken into account

I think this thread will be misunderstood based on the thread title; isn't this the point?

The NFL only counts regular season performances and stats in the voting for these awards, none from the playoffs.

No one cares about awards.

Playoffs is about coaches game plans and how bad your teams weaknesses can get exposed anyway.

We can tell if a player can ball from the regular season games.

No QB has been perfect in the Playoffs...ever. They all have made mistakes in the post-season.

Its a team game.

Some posters have singled out postseason stats being counted with awards, and they are not part of the process.

All Pro and Pro Bowl selections are solely based on regular season performance.

I’m not sure any issue with this?

The whole post-season success argument is beyond played out on sports boards....way way way played out.

These guys dont care about awards anyway...awards dont pay bills.

The whole subject about awards is pretty lame.

I think some fans want to only measure success with what happens in the playoffs .

Like some fans think Daks regular season performance means nothing without success in the playoffs.

But to answer the question why aren’t playoff performances used for the NFL Awards show is simple .

Not all players are on a good enough team to be in the playoffs so it wouldn’t be an even playing field to measure. Similar to All Pro and Pro Bowl awards or nominations.

Also because its trickier due to the imbalance of games played. Even if teams make the Super Bowl if a 1 seed and 3 seed play the 3 seed has had 1 more game. Therefore the voters would likely discount that aspect and it would end up just being a bunch of awards given to the team that won the Super Bowl with the runner up occasionally getting 1.

Yea , individual awards aren’t necessarily team success related .

It’s how we nominate All Pro and Pro Bowl players on non playoff teams . And ultimately how HOFamers on non championship teams are inducted .

The media this era have associated and glorified greatness with winning championships . And have sold many in this era of fans on that.

It’s really unfortunate fans this era struggle identifying great individual performance without winning.
