I don't begrudge Swann, his numbers do not show his importance to the Steelers. I hated the Steelers back then but had a lot of respect for many of their players including Swann

While Lynn Swann was FAR better than his numbers show (thats what happens when your team has a great running game and another great WR) he doesnt belong in the HOF unless 5 or 6 WRs that arent in ge tin before him.

Art Monk deserves it more than Swann

Not me, hated Swann but I do agree. His numbers don't represent what he ment to the Steelers offense. Without Swann, the Steelers are 2-2 in SuperBowls rather then 4-0 IMO.

As I said I hated the Steelers but I have always showed respect for teams that earned the respect and the Steelers of the 70's earned my respect. Hate? Yes but Respect Yes as well. Just the type of person I was raised to be, even when I played sports I hated losing with a passion but always would tip my hat to the other team when they won. Good sportsmanship was part of my up bringing

I agree, I think Monk and Pearson both belong but Swann also belonged so why punish him because some idiot sports writers can't see to do the right thing for guys like Monk and Pearson as well as many others.

No doubt it played a big part in it but those of us who watched Swann realize the guy was a top notch WR who would always come up with the clutch catch to kill the other team. Same for Pearson and hopefully these morons on the HOF committee will realize this and do the right thing.

Sorry...I hated the Steelers but Swan belongs in the Hall!

He was clutch when they needed it and he always seemed to make the big play.

Stats as in most things don't tell the whole story.

It is remarkable that he never had a 1000 yard season... He must be the only receiver in the Hall with that statistical weakness (well, modern receiver, anyway)

My we use that word "hate" with such passion! I disliked him and the steelers but I don't think I could say I hated them.......never liked that word "hate".

Well, I've come to realize that the Hall of Fame really does mean just that.

Lynn Swann was pretty famous.

How much you want to bet that T.O. goes in first ballot? The idea sickens me, but it wouldn't surprise me.

You can't use stats to judge his place in the HOF. Swann was one of those guys who put serious fear into opposing teams. He could be covered by the best def. backfield in football and still he would make the clutch catches. If you haven't actually watched him play, you truly have no idea of his value to those Steeler championship teams.

Swann is in because of the superbowl wins period. No matter how many big catches he made or how clutch he was, if it weren't for those superbowl wins then Swann isn't in. He definitely doesn't have the stats to support his inclusion in the HOF and stats wise he is the worst WR in the HOF. Had the Steelers had a losing record in those superbowls Swann and probably not even Stallworth make it into the hall. If Pearson had won all those superbowls he'd be in the hall right now.
